I just picked up tickets to 3 shows in Japan for Nine Inch Nails. Any fans around here?

fuck yeah bro,I'm a big fan of trent reznor and nine inch nails

the shows should be sweet since the new tour is just starting for year zero coming out on the 17th. Plus Tokyo will be a new venue for me

Tokyo is a kickass city bro,it's FUCKING HUGE
I was there back in '89 and loved it.

sounds like its going to be a great gig to go to

His new songs fucking suck. He hasn't released anything worth listening to for quite a while. It happens everytime an artist goes clean. They lose all their creativity

I don't care for the de-constructed sound of survivalism on the year zero cd,I do love songs like the beginning of the end off of that cd. I've loved every other cd he's ever made besides that one.

I didn't know that he had recently gotten 'clean'.I did a google search and found that it's not recently...........

In April of 2006 on The Spiral Fanclub message board,Trent Reznor posted that he officially ended his struggle with drugs and alcohol on June 11th, 2001.

(so much for that fucking theory and him not being 'creative')

Ya I knew he had been clean for a long time. I liked with teeth and thought it was good to hear something different from him. I'm not sure I'm into year zero yet but will see what the shows next month do for me. I'm more just stoked to go to a show in a great venue in Tokyo. I'm 6'5 so it should be interesting with that part in its self.

WOW! you being 6'5" you're going to have a good view at the concert no matter what bro.........LOL

Hell,I'm just 6' and and I felt like a fucking giant over there.........

Ya people hate me at shows but I try hard to weigh the good time-vs-courtesy thing. Tokyo is crazy though, I keep trying to plan my vacation but there is so much I want to do it is hard to figure out. Nevertheless the shows should be great.

Exactly lol everything since 2000 has fucking sucked. There is no passion and anger in his lyrics or music anymore. There was maybe 1 or 2 songs on with teeth that were worth a shit. Most and I say most because I know there are people like you that enjoy his new stuff but most of his fans became fans because the explosiveness of his lyrics and music in the 80's and 90's. He's just like metallica and the other bands of that era, trying to hold on to their fan base but will ultimately be religated to playing shows for half the price they used to charge.

I went to a NiN concert either last year or year before last and it fucking rocked. He comtemplated not playing any of his old songs because they reminded him of his drug days but ultimately decided to. Luckily he had because most would not show up if it weren't for his old stuff.

I'm sure the concert will be a blast and I'm just babbling what my friends and I think of the current state of Trent. He's in a happy place and I am happy for him but this has destroyed the passion and fire that most fans grew to love about him. it's a Catch 22 in it's finest

LOL dude being clean inspires a lot of artists.there doesn't have to be a junked out dude living on the edge of death to make the lyrics that much more intelligent, angry or deep.I'm glad the motherfucker's clean,it beats the shit out of him dying from a drug overdose and not being found for fucking weeks like what happened to layne staley, unfortunately.that was the ultimate loss in the music industry in recent years imo.

Trent will be around for many more years to produce and create great music.at least he's not some fucking born again preaching jesus freak hypocrite, like I've seen happen to clean and sober music artists way too many times.

Ya that is the thing about music, especially emotional music like his. I was listening to PHM the other day and thought about the lyrics on a couple songs. I wonder what he is thinking when he is singing them now, they obviously come from a different point in his life. I wonder if he has a hard time putting the emotion in those songs the way he did when he wrote and felt that way. If so it doesn't show in his live performances. I've been to a shitload of shows in my life and he still brings and energy to the stage that is a special thing, that in itself is why I am still a NIN fan and choose to follow his music. If I'm going to enjoy that on stage I have to know his new music.

Your post pretty much says it all for me. Staley was a huge loss, I related to his lyrics in my own way heavily for a long time. The other artist's lyrics I enjoy is Maynard and he did exactly that, changed everything. Now he is almost 180 on his lyrics and it leaves you thinking he never knew what he was saying. At least Reznor has stayed consistant, ie PHM-Terrible Lie and WT-Bite the hand that feeds/ two songs 18 years apart still a similar belief.
