Nighttime Protein?

NoLimits

New member
How many here have tried those nighttime protein formulas? I was just given a box of the SomnaBol-PM (with NitroVarin). It’s an overnight protein/mineral complex made by Klein-Becker. It is designed to overcome nocturnal (sleep-induced) post-absorptive muscle catabolism. It is also suppose to help maximize muscle growth during slow-wave sleep. I was just curious if anyone has used this product before.

its not worth the cost. Just drink a regular protein shake before bed..and then you'll have a lot more mass in your wallet too.

I think I read that someone here (or was it another board?) recommended 6 or so boiled egg whites plus 1 egg yolk for a little bit of fat to slow digestion. That was one idea or you can eat some cottage cheese or swig down that protein shake.

:)

cottage cheese all the way. low carb, high casein protein for slow digestion. the only downside is you wake up and tastes like your cat dumped in your mouth

For god sakes man put some Splenda and Cocoa/Cinnamon in the cottage!

oh no!! cottage cheese tastes awesome, its just that morning after taste thats nasty. dont get it during the day, just when i sleep.

I'm tellin you Ive been making these protein pancakes when ever I get hungry and they fill me up and most of the ingriedients is just optimum whey protein except fo some flour, water, and Cinnimon.Of course topped with some sugar free syrup.

Those nighttime protien complex's sound like a crock of shit.
Ive never tried one.
But for their price! its insane. Considering there mostly casiene protien. Which is the cheapest kind of protien avalible. But you can get that from pretty much any dairy product. like the people above suggested. Try cottage cheese instead.

Night time formula - better than cottage cheese - I just getting their formulas - haven't tried the night time formula yet.

When I get midnight hunger pangs I am so stoked to eat I dont really care what it is as long as there is alot and its yummy.

I ran out:bawling: - but I got more coming this week :D - I love it cause it makes a thick shake - and actually feels like you drank something. Night formula + Udo's is the shizle

The only downside to the nightime protein from protein factory, is they now found that the protein is underdosed. Do a search on it and you'll see. Just eat some cottage with some natty PB go to sleep!

by how much bro, post that link. I'll call those fucker's up and tell them that they will receive very bad publicity on all the boards if they don't rectify the situation. FUck that shit. I hate not getting what I'm paying for!

not woth the money, that stuffs really expensive too. all u need is about 40 grams of a protein blend before bed and ur all set (a blend of casein, egg albumen, and whey proten). the best blend protein i have found yet is VPX's Micellean. no more than 40 bux for a 2 pounder. much better than the 110 for the somnabol.

Hey PsYcHoTiC SA,

How's Micellean's consistency like? Does it mix thick in a blender?
Is the taste rich/bland?

Thanks.

theres a few ways you can approach this

A) use whey w/ some fats. Whether it be whole eggs, flax or nuts.
B) use a nightime formula (whey,mic. casein,milk iso)
C) just eat a whole food meal. It can be chicken, eggs steak. It will digest slower than the powders.

I drink my night-time formula and eat some hard boiled eggs. :p

I'd say use the sutff that was given to you, and if they don't give you another pile of it for free, then just drink a regular protein shke, adn eat some cottage cheese. Protein in cottage cheese is slow absorbing, perfect for before bed!

:newbie: I am new to this site. A couple days ago I saw some post on Cottage cheese and how beneficial it was in slowing down digestion. I was wondering why that is a good thing? Also I thought Cottage cheese high in fat????

:newbie:

Eating about 6 egg whites right before you goto bed should be sufficient right. I bought cottage cheese again today and tried to eat it for the 4th time heh. Not happening i added some sugar free choc jello pudding mix. I think its the consistancy that makes it so nasty maybe. If the eggs arent going to be enough im thinking of maybe putting the cottage cheese in the blender with some milk and just chug it. What do you guys think would be better? the eggs or the cottage cheese?

You can get nonfat and lowfat cottage cheese. At night, you want protein that will be slowly digested so your body has a slow, steady supply of protein throughout the night.

Lex- 6 egg whites only has about 18-22 g protein. You probably want more protein than that.

i too think its all a bunch of shyt..and even if it does work is it really that much better then like they said cottage cheese or just eggs???? considering the money i think its not...ill just wait for it to be around for a little bit longer and theyll drop the price on it......

Try cottage cheese and protein powder in a blender w just a little water. Tastes almost like a milkshake. Or if cutting carbs and worried about sugar in cc use flax oil. Formulas WAY too expensive. For the same price you can use cottage cheese and run IP winny. I bet the supp companies won't fund that research on which was the better use of $100 for muscle gains.
