Anyone here ever manage a nightclub?

Me and some friends were exchanging ideas on how to best manage a club - anyone here have any ideas even if you haven't managed one?

It's pretty hit and miss and, understandably so I think. That's why I thought I'd put the question out there to see what everyone thought.

the guys i worked for were always going to court over something. make sure you have a good lawyer and a great insurance policy. some stupid bitch takes off her shoes and cuts her foot, you're going to court. roided out bouncer socks someone, court. etc. it can be a great place at times but.........

Lot of work. Lot of money. Lot of hoping "u will build and they will come".

Easier to take over an existing nightclub or just run a "night" instead of a full club. You can also gain experiences by being a promotor/booker.

I'm taking over an existing place - not the whole show, just bar managing. That's enough because the place is shambles in terms of stock take always mysteriously being out.

if you are able to hire people, surround yourself with ones that compensate the places you are weak.

Our general manager is in charge of that but, we're on the same page. We're in the middle of hiring all new staff as complete turn-over seems like the best thing to do under the circumstances.

Basically, we're looking to increase the numbers coming in the door and better control stock loss. We'll be giving shift trials to everyone who has experience and is honest and see how it goes from there.
