I have see several INDEPENDENT studies regarding Nuclear Containment Bldg strength.
I honestly believe they can withstand quite a bit of explosive and Impact energy even though they were not DESIGNED to do so.

The best example of this was when they ran a rail mounted, rocket propelled Fighter jet travelling at 400 mph into a sample of the standard 6 ft thick rebar reinforced containment wall.

The Jet disintegrated on impact and penetrated the wall less than an Inch.

If anything, they will attack the plant on the ground with Men and take it over, causing a meltdown from inside.

The oil refineries along the Houston River are a big risk right now. If they were to be hit gas and heating oil prices would skyrocket to epic proportions and send the economy into a tailspin that makes the Great Deperssionn seem like a bad hair day!

Our once- arrogant aura of invincibility has contributed to the lax security measures in this country. These dirtbags have just observed, and struck, and done exactly like you said. Can anybody say that we're prepared to deal with anything? NO, we're not........we've beefed up airline security, but as Chesty said the other day, it's still a joke.

The most vulnerable place I think is the Alaskan pipeline.....miles of unprotected pipeline. The last week of September someone shot a hole in the pipeline with a .338 rifle. We lost 285,000 gallons of oil. They're still cleaning it up.....and admit that they have no way of protecting the pipeline from terrorist attacks. If they hit that, we're truly fucked.

most of the storage tanks at refineries hold 1mil gallons and if a large hole was put into one it would be hard to plug, whereas with the pipeline you can close an upstream valve. also if you knock out even one refinery in the US, gas prices would sky rocket. and some chemical plants have some products stored that could wipe out a whole town. ie. hydrgen, ammonia, etc. you could hit these tanks from outside the gate.

natdog, these reason i started this thread is because of what i saw happen at my plant. after 9-11 we only had minimum security, then after we struck back and recieved credible threats to the petrochemical industry we had armed swat show up. now i believe that they have recieved threats. if you live in a city that has these facilities it is common for the city to have a worse case scenario incident relating to the plants. in other words what would happen if the most dagerous chemical was released and how do you respond. they have since taken this info off or thier website in my town for fear of it in the wrong hands.
all im saying is if you live around a plant find out what is stored and try to be prepared.

The same people, on this board, who say that our water supply is in danger are the same ones who said we would all be dead of smallpox by the end of September. Everyone just loves to sit around and think of new reasons why we're fucked. For all we know the terrorist cells, in this country, are running for their collective lives.

Someone posted a thread the other day about how anthrax was going to kill millions of people in this country and I posted an article that completely refuted that. So the person said that smallpox is the one we really have to worry about. So I posted an article refuting that. Now it's the water supply. Nuclear reactors. Suitcase nukes, etc, etc, etc. The theory of the sporting event is one that I think is more real that any of the others, but then again, what the fuck do I know?

what would a terrorist do at a sporting event?
they captured a guy with plans for a nuclear energy facility and thier was discussion of chemical plants.
if someone wanted to do something at a sporting event they would have to bring whatever it isthey are going to use to the event. the materials for a catastrophy are already at the plants.

i dont think anybody is trying to scare anybody, thats rediculous. we can discuss this cant we. and as far as being in touch if you read the thread you'll see i said i worked at a chemical plant and have lived here all my life. there has always been events surrounding these facilities. obviously none of us know where they will hit next, so you cant refute squat.

i did not take me just minutes to come up with these targets, i have lived around them my whole life. it has always been known that these places are potential targets.
