Newbie ... no flames, no heat

Guys,

Newbie here. I'm young, how smart, how much experience (training) should someone have before they experiment with anabolics (gear)? Also, what do you guys think about Tobjorn's ABCDE system for adding lean mass without the need of anabolics. I'm 20, and am thinking of staying off the gear until I've had a bit more training, or I get completely frustrated. Let me know, I'd love to get input from some experienced fellow lifters.

Peace,
NFG123 :D

welcome ngf....thanks for asking this type of question...do you honestly feel you have reached you genetic potential? how long have you trained?......dyno

Do all the research you can and find out as much as possible because only an idiot would put something into there body that they dont understand or know about. get help from the mods usually all of them are ready to help someone willing to learn and the same goes for some of the vets. this board will probably be your best tool as it has mine if it wasnt for this place i would probably be dead from an overdose or something like that. lift until you are completely satisfied that you wont grow anymore without alittle help and then have one of the Vets or mods setup a cycle for you.

goodluck

Thanks

Guys,

Thanks for the advice so far. I think I have my diet under control for the mean time. I have only been lifting for a year, and have been focusing on compound, free weight movements.

I eat 6x a day, roughly 3200 calories, low cardio for mass building.

I get about 1.5 g protein / lb of bodyweight, take mutlivitamins and EFA supplements. I've tried a few cycles of creatine, and the stuff is amazing.

Every 6th day, I drop protein intake to .5 g / lb of bodyweight to keep my body from adjusting too much.

All the standard deals, lots of oatmeal, yams, brown rice, whole-grain breads .... yada yada.

Right now I weigh 160 lbs, 5' 9 with 5% bodyfat. I've been dieting for 6 weeks using Chris Aceto's advice about carb cycling, I've gone from 14% --> 5% in this time (took HMB @ 3.5 g / day), cardio 5 x week (half interval training).

I ran 2100 calories a day for the first 4 weeks, then had to drop to 1850 last week and 1650 for this week to keep losing. protein intake varies from .7 g / lb bodyweight a day up to 1.6 at the end of the week as i carb deplete. Fat remains a steady 20% of caloric intake.

Any critiques?

Once again,
Thanks for the help!

You are very wise.
You can actually get a test done to see whether your growth plates have sealed yet. Usually it is safe to say around 21. Steroids will cause them to seal prematurely if you take them befor which means it could stunt your growth. Obviously if you want as big a frame as genetically possible you'll wait until you've stopped growing. It is also more harmful during the pubescense as the body is experiencing some pretty dramatic hormone changes then anyway, plus the internal organs may not be fully developed yet. Once you have stopped growing as far as experience goes you can't put a figure on it in years. It all depends on your intensity and that only comes from your heart, but you should have worked up to a very intense level of training and know most excercises and what is working for you. Same with diet, get that right for the next few months as you should be on an absolute minimum of 6 meals a day if you want the gear to work to maximum effect.
