Newbie and question about weight

I wasn't sure where to post this...but here goes.

I am 5'3, 145 and have 26% body fat. I would like to get down to around 20%. what should my ideal weight be to get that?

If anyone can help me out, please post!

thanks in advance!

I'm also a 22 year old female.

That's 9 lbs of fat difference but once you weigh 136 with 29 lbs of bodyfat your % has changed again. It would be over 21%. The ratio is always changing as you gain or lose weight.

Be sure that you're losing fat mass ;). Losing lean mass will make you look flabbier. You're doing weight training I assume? 11 lbs should get you 20%.

Funny name since, 26% isn't that high for a woman. I think women with a little meat on their thighs and butt are sexier. Anywho, the advice you have been given is correct. However, make sure you are hitting the weights or not all of that 11 ibs will be fat, alot of it will be muscle. Then you'll have to lose even more to reach 20%. Plus, with less muscle your metabolism will be slower, thus you'll have to eat even less in order to reach your goal than you would have to if you had just kept the muscle. Muscle mass = your metabolism. Anyway, if you actually gain a couple ibs of muscle you'll find it easier to reach your goal of 20%. Women who don't juice shouldn't worry about getting big and bulking just from lifting heavy. Don't worry, it isn't going to happen.

Yeah, I am following the Body Sculpting Bible for women and lifting 3x a week and doing cardio 3x a week. I am actually doing a little more cardio on my lifting days....but I do it later at night and it's really low intensity...like the elliptical for 45 minutes on a low resistance.

Yeah, I don't feel really fat at 26%...I'm only wearing a size 6...I just really want to tone up because I know I have the potential to. But seriously, I feel a lot less like a heffer with your comment about 26% not being too high.

I'll have to post a pic sometime.

Thanks everyone!!

Yeah, I'm not horribly out of shape. My boyfriend keeps telling me that he thinks I would be "happy" at about 19%. (He's at 7%)

Don't get me wrong, I want to get in shape for myself alone. And besides...I'm a short Italian/Greek girl. Some curves are destined to stay!
