New PRs!!!

Haven't been around in a while - but I'm just finishing up on my 3rd HST cycle and I wanted to post some of my results.

At the end of my first HST cycle:

DL - 5x255
SLDL - 5x215
Bench - 5x275
Rows - 5x210
Db Shoulder - 5x85
Tri pulldown - 5x160
Reverse curl - 5x90
Teapot abs - 5x60

Todays lifts:

DL - 5x325 (new PR)
SLDL - 5x325 (new PR)
Bench - 5x275
Rows - 5x240 (new PR)
Db Shoulder - 5x90
Reverse curl - 5x90
Tri pulldown - 5x190 (new PR)
Teapot Abs - 5x105 (new PR)

So - I have made pretty significant improvements in all areas besides my chest, shoulders, and bi's. This is while cutting my weight from 220 to 200lbs.

Not sure what I'm gonna do next - I may take my week off for SD and then spend a bit of time doing a 5x5 stressing some more stabilization exercises.

Great job. I noticed your bench stayed the same - any thoughts why?

That has been bothering me. My only thought is that I have been doing bench for so long that I am nearer my peak and since I was cutting I lost a bit of strength - whereas w/ DLs, I hadn't been doing them before so I was able to gain even during a cut (and DL's helped my overall back strength??)

THis is just a guess...if anyone else has any ideas - I'd love to hear them.

uh.. what are those?

heh - thought I might get a question about that. Its that exercise where you hold a dumbbell in one hand and lean to the side, then straighten back up. I noticed when I first started doing them that I kept my offhand on my hip...so I looked like a teapot tipping over - I quickly rid myself of that habit and laugh everytime I see someone else doing them.

HST isn't as ideal for strength as some other programs. As the name implies, it's geared towards hypertrophy. Did you notice any, despite your defecit of calories?

One of my favourite exercises for obliques. I normally just call them 'DB side bends" but your name has character.
