New PR today!!

I hit a PR on sumo deads today. My previous best sumo was 430 and best ever dead was 450.

Today I did:

135x3
225x2
315x1
385x1
425x1
455x1(straps up)

I'm psyched!! Not only a sumo PR, but beat my best conventional.
I weighed 146, so it is my first ever sumo triple bodweight pull and my 4th time pulling 3xbw alltogether.

I hav a deadlift meet in 11 days and have decided to go sumo for this one. I plan on going 460 on my second attempt and then go for broke on the third. I think after this meet when I get my Titan deadlift suit I am going to make great progress on my sumo. If I can get it up to my knees the lockout is cake sumo...the oppoite with conventional for me.

First off congrats on the PR. Thats is great. Second, is that all you do for warmups? Im just asking because it seems like very little warmups for such a heavy pull for you. You only did a total of 9 reps. Well anyways congrats again on your PR.
 
I like to pull both ways. It seems each style keeps out pulling the other, so I am going back and forth between the two.

Freak- This is how I have been doing it for a while now. Especially since I only pull singles. It doesn't take me too many sets to get warm.
 
Good job. I know what yur going through (as far as swappin back in forth). I since my meet am gonna try sumo again as well. But my wife studied techniques and told me i should too, so last night i pulled sumo and normally i am slow with 500 plus. But last night i stayed light and concentrated on my form. Well the difference i am making is i have spread me feet further apart and pointed my toes out. Big difference. Last night i did

135x 5 2 sets
225x 5 2 sets
315 x 3 2 sets
405x 3
455x 3
500x 3 (little pause between reps to practice the start)
then did 1 rep conventinal for my 4th rep with 500 to check speed difference.

And there wasnt much. Normally at this weight i can see the difference. 500 and down i look good with sumo but right around 500 it slows down. But last night i felt wider made my lockout less, and the speed was pretty good too. So i am gonna practice this at least once a month for ME Tues workout.

So no PRs here but felt good with sumo for a change!
 
Hey Jay, is that all you guys did last night for deadlift training? Also, can I use the 3 and the 4 board on friday with the green bands at the bottom. Or should just do without them? or do both? Cause I was gonna try to hit them like I did the Blue ones from the top.

Great job on the PR. Some of us pull better sumo. A very lucky few can pull well both ways. Whatever works for you. I am very impressed with you.

No PR's to report this week, have a meet in 3 days, so holding off on the PR's till Saturday. But I intend to have some PR news Sunday!!!

Hey Freak try em like you did last week (suspended). But if you choke em down i would use the boards. BUt whatever your comfortable with. YOu will get a eccellent tri workout with the bands and boards though. Since last week you used blues up no boards just for shits and giggles do them choked down , and remember to once you tie them in, to loop it again under it. You need the tension of it looped around after its been sinched. And use the 3 and 4 brd. Just to see how you liek them. I think done that way is awesome. Makes you push even faster then with bands up.
 
Hey guy-congrats on the PR. Its funny on DL how when you find your weakness or and exercise to fix your weakness, how quickly your dead numbers can shoot up. I dont recall ever seeing anything on your squat. Are you as proportionally stong in it?

My squat is much weaker. My best squat in a meet is 330. Best in the gym is 365.

Best bench is 255(240 in meet).

I have a deadlift meet tomorrow, so I should have a new PR on the dead in less than 24 hours.
