What is the big deal about a hard drive?

Time slip (pause live video from TV or source) , rec a dvd while watching a HD recording, editing for DVD record, lots of other benefits. I'll bet that in a year, they are all like this. Multifunction boxes that are Satellite, HD, and DVD record....
