Hey Everyone

I am new here - first day ! I am a 27yr old guy living in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am 6', 253lbs and have a body fat of 37 % !!!! As you can imagine I am not in great shape. But I have been going to gym regularly for 3 weeks and have decided to change my life. You guys on here all have the most amazing bodies. I am sure that you are sick of chatting to new people, but I would really appreciate any advice and help and encouragement. Look forward to hearing from you all.

Read your ass off. There is TONS of info that will help you (after you get your diet and training schedule down) with your goals. I was like you when i joined, not a few years later, im quite changed and much happier.

i know you're all excited and thats great.
but i think before you commit to something, you should have a few months, at the least, under you belt.

i use to train people, and the first month is the most exciting one.... they got all excited and shit. but i'd approximate that 80% of them dropped out after the first month or two.

Welcome friend, this is one of the places to learn. Your first lesson is substitute the twinkies and ding dons for meat and eggs.:)

Thanks for the replies and advice - I think :) I know that 3 weeks isnt much, but I am damn proud of myself so far. How many of you are natural ? Was just wondering if it is possible to get a good body 100% naturally or not ?????

Its absolutely possible,diet is the key along with training,remember-you are what you eat, i was natural and made gains up intill my late 40's.now i look like i did in my early 30's.If i can be of any help holler!!!!

Woah guys this is amazing. Feel like I have my own support group here :) Thanks for all the advice so far and I am more than happy to receive more and more :) I am currently doing a 3 day on, one day off routine. I do weights for an hour and then run for 30 mins. I am doing 4 sets for each exercise split into 20/15/12/10 with the weight getting heavier and heavier ! As far as my eating goes, I have been having a high protein, lowish carb, low fat diet. Seem to live on protein shakes. I do have a myoplexlite after each training sessions as someone told me that you have 12mins to get the nutrients to your muscles if you want to have growth. I am also eating a lot of trout which I love, eggs with only one yolk and veggies. Love my avo. Has been a hard transition. Finding that hydroxycut and coffee keeps my appetite at bay. I am VERY motivated and am determined to do this thing. Want to have a pic of me up on here within in 6 months - heh heh ! Well I can dream so long !

Actually you have much longer,12mins is ok but don't kill yourself trying to beat that time the window of opportunity is a bit larger more like 45min after working out.!I try to hit it at least during that time or earlier.

By the way, I am on HydroxyCut - do you guys think that this is the best fat burner or do you have some other suggestions ?
 
bluehawk it sounds that you know the right things to do, remember it all take time. I don't think that hydroxycuts is all that hot. Thermogen II, NYC and a few others with eph pack more of a punch.:)
 
Congratulations on your decision to change your body and your life, you won't regret it! Like everyone else said use the search button for specific topics and try to learn as much as possible. There are a lot of knowledgeable bro's (and sis's) on this board, we will all help to steer you in the right direction. The great thing about this board is that if someone gives you misinformation somebody else will correct them. Kind of like checks and balances. Just remember Rome wasn't built in a day, consistency is the key. Good luck bro!
 
Thanks fpr that - I will look into that product. Have any of you guys used muscletech's nitro-tech and cell-tech ? A friend of mine swears by them. I have been on the normal EAS proteins. The muscletech ads have great stuff on them - but might just be advertising. They are bloody expensive here too - about US$80 each as opposed to US$ 29 in the USA. I would be willing to buy them if I new they would help. When I first started weights (only about a month ago ) I was sore as hell the days after training. Now I am training to exhaustion, but I have no pain whatsoever the next day. Maybe this is normal, but starting to feel that maybe I am not getting benefit if there is no pain. I know that you should not be very sore - but I have got absolutely NO pain the next day. Cant even feel that I have done a workout. As you might of guessed I am one of those people who wants everything yesterday. I know that perserverance is probably the best drug...
 
just another quick thing - I have been getting blood in my nose a lot. Has anyone else had this from exercising ? Also am BLOODY horny ! Embarassed that I wrote that, but I have never been hornier since I started training. Is this due to testosterone ?

Increase in testosterone to a certain point will increase your sex drive!!!!
as far as the blood in the nose i would get your blood pressure checked,running a cycle will raise your blood pressure.
BTW-muscle tech & cell tech products are overrated. Any good whey protein product should do you........my favorites are EAS simply protein.....or EAS simply gain.

yea muscle and cell tech products are, i think a waste. my friend had great results on hydroxycut, but i have never used it. congrats on making the most important step, getting started. you have come to the right place to learn and if i cfan be any assistance just holla at me. good luck
