Net Nutrality

It will never happen. Why? Because of supply and demand. If a few ISP's go that route they will lose customers because other ISP's will offer a better deal. That is what makes capitalism wonderful. Consumers get what they demand.

Now if the liberals and government get involved and make silly rules that restrict the internet then it could all change.

Don't say never. Varison has already said they are anti net nutrality and will offer faster speeds to websites that they choose, and put the rest in the "slow lane". Lets say EF doesn't have the money to pay every ISP a bunch of money to be in this "fast lane", the ISP's will slow down the speed we can access the site, maybe so much it is at dial up speeds. Soon no one comes to EF any more because it is just too slow.

Here in canada bell canada was given grants years ago to lay their lines to each house, they now own a monopoly. Other 3rd party ISP's pay bell to use their lines to offer DSl.

Bell recently started throtteling all p2p traffic and said it was because p2p was a burden on their network (but studdies have now shown that streaming video takes up the most bandwidth with 50%, p2p is only 5% of usage). Everyone left bell to go to one of these 3rd party ISP's that didn't throttle internet access. A month later Bell started to throttle their wholesale customers also. One big copany is already trying to take over.

The time is now for the public to make a stand as you say. It is already being discussed incongress, the next few month's/ year will decide the future of the internet as you know it.
