Nervous...meeting with a trainer.....

Okay I guess this means I have to committ lol...meeting with this guy who will help me with everything I need...can't wait to hear the price lol... he is an IFBB Pro, 1998 NPC National Champ, N.A.S.M. Certified, and a N.P.C. Judge.......

I can understand the nervousness!! Just make sure you have a good "fit" with him....

Also - what I like to do is keep a binder with print outs of the supps he has me on, his meal & exercise plans, my online journal, and any questions I think of in between meetings. That way - when you see him - you're prepared!!

I have a complete notebook of all my training, my diet, my stats & progress, etc.

Some trainers won't let you write down your routines, etc. -- for some reason its sort of like them making you completely dependent on them for your training. I personally think this is BS because it doesn't contribute to your ability to learn anything. Rather you are paying a guy to stand over you and count reps.

Welllllll.....bad news first....he is going to charge me $4000.00 for 7 months......so I don't know about that lol....good news...great base with legs and back looking good....but damn that is a ton of money

What is included for that price?

- # training sessions / month?
- duration of each session?
- just training or diet as well?
- regular bodyfat measuring
- specified number of adjustments to diet and / or training routine? Or just does as needed within that flat rate for the 7 months?
- Gym membership is extra?
- Is this including any competition prep or just general training towards "getting you in the best shape of your life"?
- Is he agreeign to be available for phone calls, questions, support, etc. at any time, day or nite (or within reason)... i.e. he isn't planning on going out of town often & leave u to fend for yourself?

Consider this-- if you get say 4 x 1 hr training sessions / week = 16 hrs/ month withj full diet & training and regular bodyfat analysis say every 2-4 weeks...

($4000/7 months) = $571/month

16 hrs / month = $36 / hr

I'm assuming this excludes gym membership. That's a pretty good hourly rate for personal training & diet from a guy w/ these credentials. Most trainers will give you some sort of consideration if you are committing to work with them for a period of time, e.g to prep for a show 3-4 months out.

But make sure what it includes & what sort of availability he has. Make sure he isn't goign to stick you for additional stuff that you would think are included or he makes use of on a regular basis, like bodyfat analysis -- that can be a $20 + charge for some trainers.

Also does he recommend any particular line of supplements that you would have to or be highly recommended to get? A well-organized trainer will probably be set up to be a wholesaler of some particular line and would then further be making money off you. Or if the brand is overly expensive because of brandname when the same stuff is available generic at the local grocery store.

LOL okay.....it was

2 days a week for 1 hour
Nutrition advice and diet
all contest prep, turns ect......

does not include gym, supplements, any suits shoes and things

So really $70/session.

Its in the ballpark for contest prep. Like I said on a diff thread, very hard to do competition prep on a budget. For a 7 month stint tho, you might want to look at some target dates for shows if that is your goal. That will give you an idea of what you are goign to get for that 7 months. Could be you can hit 2+ shows with a few months apart with trainign covered for all the shows & the time between.

The suit & all that stuff is always going to be seperate.

I might be able to do it it the payment was a little less or different...he wanted 1/2 up front....my hubby laughed....but he isn't so supportive in my quest to become Mrs. Man..that is what he calls it

Oh. Well tell hubby the $7000 is just for putting the Mrs. on stage. The "Man" part is a seperate investment in enough testosterone to become a "Man".

Dayum girl, hubby needs to know that a well-toned, lean and fit woman will make his life greater. If you become Mrs. Man, that just means you look good AND you can kick his ass. He's probably just intimidated. You can let him know you won't hurt him. ;)

But all joking aside, just because you have identified a guy who sells himself as someone who can prepare you for a show, does not mean that you can't at least start going about that goal on your own w/o the $7000 investment. There are lots of resources here & online in general that can get you well along the path to competitino prep before you have to sink a huge amount of money into this particular guy. You may also come across someone who is less expensive or fits your payment goals a little better.
