your wrong on both accounts. These drummers are not the best the world has to offer. And B. I hate jazz.Oh and C. I'm a fucking great drummer.BigRedCat said:Yeah you must be a great drummer if you think the mentioned drummers suck. Either that or your "mr. jazz drummers are the only "real" drummers guy."

I've gone throught this with perkel in the music forum, you can refer to that, thers just too much to say.BigRedCat said:Sermon-
Ok then who are some great drummers? Let me guess, death metal drummers? If your such a great drummer what band are you in?
It is simply asinine to say that Stephen Perkins,John Stanier,Danny Carey and Carter Beauford are not some of the best if not among the best drummers on the planet. Any drummer who disvalues the influence of Neil Pert is hardly a drummer, that is a fact.

BigRedCat said:Do you judge "good" by speed and technique or just what style they play?

Even if you only listen to one very specific kind of music, you have to as a musician respect these other drummers on technical ability alone.
Anyway, my girlfriend has been playing drums longer than you buddy. I have met allot of drummers in my time(including all that I mentioned above) and I doubt a single one would slag on another professional drummer, especially Neil Pert. That is like me(a singer and guitar player) saying Maynard James Keenan is a shitty singer.
You still haven't mentioned which drummers you like. I practiced next to Pete Sandoval for a few months, do you think he is a "good" drummer? Do you judge "good" by speed and technique or just what style they play?

What is great to one person, is crap to another.
We used to argue about which musician was better when we were kids.
There is NO better or worse. If it appeals to you then it will be good in your opinion.
Music isn't a competition, it is a form of expression.
*btw I'm 35 and have been playing guitar since the age of 12. I have toured the continent playing professionally and have taught music for over 10 years. Does that make my opinion any more valid than someone else's. I don't think so, even if I would like to believe so.![]()
BigRedCat said:Do you think I dont know who Dave Weckl or Dennis Chambers are? Are you a pro? Do you have a record contract since your so amazing? Who have you recorded with?
There are tons of amazing drummers out there including Chambers and Weckl as well as Ginger Baker, Bill Bruford,Tim Alexander,Keith Moon, etc etc. Point being, what the hell are you arguing about? How can you say Dennis Chambers is "better" than Neil Pert? Now, you can not dislike Pert's style for whatever reason but to say that the drummers I mentioned are not good is retarded and you know it. If you were a decent drummer at all you wouldn't talk shit to other drummers. Are you in a band? With your ego I doubt it. Maybe your a great drummer, and if thats true I hope you dont have that attitude when you talk to other drummers because I have met Dennis Chambers and they guy is very humble.
You act like I am a newbie and dont know about how great your drumming is, well thats fine but prove it.Post up some links to your drumming. If your better than Pert I sure would like to hear it.
