This is far from odd and is actually logical to some degree. Members equate # of posts with seniority / experience here at EF, which is not the wrong approach, IMO. Now, if someone ONLY looks at # of posts, then they are fools. But, it's only natural to use that as a barometer for judging someone. When a new mod comes along that has never posted or nobody has ever heard of (and no background is given about said mod), it's only natural to be wary if this person as an advice-giver. It cuts all ways.
And as far as the "your advice means nothing without rippled abs and 22" pythons", there is also a degree of sensibility to this approach. There is a reason NFL players tend to gravitate more towards coaches who are former players vs. coaches who never played - regardless of how great their mind / advice is. There's a lot of stock in "I've been there, done that. I am one of you" when giving/taking advice.
You can't discount any of these factors. And they should be just that - factors. Factors in a formula with several layers used to judge those that are giving advice.
