English and Russian language syntax are much more closely related than English and Arabic syntax. In addition, you've had five years of "excessive learning." Who knows what level of training in the English language this guy has had? You know damn well that their was a time within your period of secondary language acquisition when, if you had wished to communicate in English, you would have sounded quite humorous as well.

On helping the guy out - fuck if I know. I think if he is getting tested he's fucked. he was asking for help from more people than just me - perhaps someone has good advise for this kid. I could have said that I think he's fucked I guess. Or I could have insulted his English, but I see no reason in it.

You stated that "English as a second language shouldn't be an excuse." That's absurd. Who knows his level of mastery over the second language? I do not. Do you? It can vary with age, time of study, and factors of a persons unique cognition.

BTW, I find subtle nuances in your writing that I find a deviation from proper English as I know it.

BTW, how old were you when you began to learn English with relative focus? Not very many people have the ability to drop a primary language accent unless they learn the secondary language in perfect form at a very yound age. Do you speak more than two languages?
