NEED SUPPLEMENT can't eat! :s

SO I'm up in the great white north (Canada) policing. I'm here for the remainder of the summer, and food is uber expensive! To boot, I don't have the time took cook all I need. Since arriving here I lost about 10 lbs. I have no access to a gym or anything. All I have is pushups, situps, ect.

I'm looking for a supplement that will give me enough protien, as well as act as a full meal replacement (not a diet replacement). I don't want to get fat or anything while being up here, as there's little working out I can do. BUT I don't want to get any skinnyier, OR SICK from lack of nutrition.

Can anyone make any suggestions on what I should do to address this, or what supplement would meet my needs?
Please note, that price is an issue. I know there are alot of good ones out their, but they cost alot.

Anyways suggest away! PLEASE!

Take care
Ryan

Dude, so many obsticles.

First thing you need to do is make time for yourself. If you don't do that then you will be of no use to anyone as your health will slowly be affected. If food is expensive then look at sources which will leave you fuller, longer (ie: oats, pastas, rice, potatoes, etc.). Try and buy in bulk. If it is a supplement you are after (weight gain/meal replacements) then the majority will be in the range of $20 + or around $1.20 + per serving. Normally that is not outside someone's budget in comparison to normal food sources. Alternatively, buy a fishing rod and some worms and catch your dinner. :D

As to weight training, you may not have access to a gym and/or olympic weights but that does not mean you cannot train. Any weighted object can be utilised to perform any standard exercise routine which you would see in a gym. The only thing you need to be concerned with is that you don't place yourself in an unsafe situation (ie: doing squats with your best friend across your shoulders). Find a sturdy bar and hang bags of sand or water bottles from it. Again, use common sense and your own judgement so that you can remain safe.

Have a productive summer, eh. :)

Yea, I've really gone back to basics with the eating and training.
Sometimes eggs, but Cream of Wheat is good in the morning. PB toast, or a ham sandwhich and or 'Chinese Noodles', and supper is sometimes chicken, sheperads pie, porkchops.
However, given that, I'd still like to have more, but to buy it is killer.

Any suggestions on a specific product that isn't wildly $$, but fits what I'm looking for?

If you mean a 'specific' supplement product ... have a look at ProLab N-Large 2. I don't know what price you will pay for it where you are but you should be able to get it. Just remember that it is meant to be used as a 'supplement' to you already balanced diet and in combination with an exercise program ... just like any other supplement.

If the ham is packaged ham then it will be high in sodium and nitrates and sometimes added water for volume. The noodles, if they come in a package with flavourings, will also be high in sodium.

Now I've been in this game a little while now. Tried various routines, and what not.
The gains I've made have been nominal at best. But thats okay; I do what I can here, and I'm hittin it hard again come Sept (when I'm back home).

Though I generally keep a clean diet, (ie. little junk food, ect.) What is the adverse effects of sodium?

...Thanks for the info. I'll check into the N-Large stuff. I know it's a supplement to add to normal eating and training. However I'm limited in that area.

Would you suggest I keep doing what I'm doing and hold off supplementing until I can get home and give it 100%?
OR should I add the supplement help out now?

Kain, I noticed after my last post you site... Very nicely done, And very informative.
It's hard to find a good site that is laid out easily, and easy to understand, that also has lots of soild info.
Keep up the good work.

The main concerns are high blood pressure and fluid retention.

Again, supplements are only used to supplement an already healthy nutritional intake. If your level of activity warrants the addition of another source of energy and nutrients then add a supplement.

Being away from home is an ideal time to make a difference in your life and physique as there will be limited distractions. If you can make the time for yourself, which you are going to do -- right, and find yourself a gizzly bear or something to bench press, then now is as good a time as any to start. Just ease into it slowly and keep us updated.

Store brand-X powdered milk, powdered eggs and inexpensive veggie based powdered protein .... mix with water or skim milk .... Knox gelatin ... full spectrum multi - vit (crack in half; take 1/2 every 12 hours).

Deer? Moose? Turkey? Maybe the local folk are into game meats very inexpensive.

Good luck and good health.
