need some help....having a hard time filling in a lagging portion of my upper chest.....i do alot of incline barbbell and dumbbell work but i tend to get more of a front delt. workout than my chest i feel my chest working and i get sore but it does not seem to grow ....what should i do different....

I have that same problem. Hitting the incline dumbell presses and flys at a 33 degree angle in opposed to a 45 degree has helped take stress off the delts and hit the upper pecs a little more.

Personal preference. I choose DB as I find them to be more shoulder friendly on the incline.

Some have zero shoulder problems with bars though -- it depends on your genetic structure really.

make sure that if you use dbells to make the incline match the incline that is on the incline BB station..i see alot doing incline bells with a very high incline almost like seated debell presses!!

Word, good advices.

When using an incline BB, try different grip positions to see how they feel. I like going very wide on them. Also, contract hard at the top of the movement for a second, does wonders!

Don't do bench presses to the throat. Strains the rotator cuffs way too much and is unnecessary. Continue hitting the heavy compound movements and progress. Just get bigger and you'll "fill in".

agreed!!!

slow down the movement
you may have to use less weight, but you can contrait on using your pecs more than your delts

I agree. One of the biggest mistakes people make when working chest is they go through the movements way too fast. If they slow down they will feel it in the pecs more. Granted they will have to go down in weight, but it will benefit them more.

Yup...

I recently did this with the Incline BB as I felt I was using way too much momentum....

Slowed down the negatives and dropped the weight and what do you know....new growth...

Also I think finding the "right" grip and use of additional exercies for chest will help a lot

This comment will probably sound like I'm using improper form.

I always try and vary my exercises, routine, etc. Some weeks I do dumbells, other weeks I switch to bb. For shoulders I would do military presses on bb, db and or smith machine(behind the head). Once I started military presses(in front) on the smith machine I gained a lot of size on the top portion of my chest and i actually got really good burns. I know I thought the same, this is a Delt ex., but it has worked for me and I now use it as an upper pec ex. and use behind the head as delt ex.
