under 1000, you dont' have to have an ID, so just use a fake name, but remember what you put so you can tell the receiver the exact name

Yeah you'll be fine. Just use a fake name- you'll get a copy of the transaction sheet that will have the transfer number and the name and address you used and all the other important information.

I disagree with you guys. I am receiving $$ all the time western union because of my Ebay seller act, over or under $1000 I am asked for ID, I would use my real name or get a fake ID made up, you and the receiver also have 2 have a password, the sender makes it up and advises the receiver of the word so they can receive the funds..

For my purposes, sending money to Mexico via WU all turned out okay.

My purposes were completely legit, I've gotta add, though.

All turned out well for me. I sent 999.00.

Exactly, getting fake IDs and putting fake names is asking for trouble IMO.

Oh, and they have cameras in Western Union offices too, so even if you use a fake name they have your picture.

I don't know if it actually does anything, but i just don't like my real name to be on anything dealing with illicit activities... even if it's just the payment. I don't want anything that can be traced back to me.

I've used WU several times without any problem. Sometimes they asked ID sometimes not. Sending money is not illegal, so no problem to give my real name.

Only thing I don't like about WU, they are f*cking expensive.

Used WU with real name and address. No problems, none of this password stuff, just sent it and the receiver picked it up. All they need is the control number that Western Union gives you. You can stipulate some ways for the receiver to pick up if you want.

I used to be a WU agent. I can tell you that transactions under 1000 you are not required to show ID. However transactions over 1000 you do.

As far as the name shit goes, if you really wanted to be safe your best bet would be to send less than a thousand. Have fake names for both the reciever and sender, and instruct the agent on the recieving end to pay without an I.D.

Our office had no cameras. Still doesn't as far as I know.

But this is all purely hypothetical.

basically its like this, if you are a dealer and send large amounts very frequently, you better get yourself a fake or send less than 1000, because if you are by chance being watched or that big into buying/selling, then they can get the WU records for what you have sent to a known sources id.

you can use a real name and the receiver does not have to show an id because you can use a question and an answer. they will just ask him the question and the receiver gives the answer. what if you were sending money to someone who legitimently didn't have an id

They had this big Western Union machine in a local 7-11, I was gonna use that to send some $800, but the machine said to take of any glasses or hats for a photo...made me a little nervous so I did it online.
