need program to get access to wireless distribution points

I'm currently visiting my mom, and she only has dial up which is painful to use. My laptop detects two distribution points in the area and I'd like to use them. I know there are programs out there that will extract the ssid being used so that you can use it and gain access. Anyone know of any I can try?

Also, what are some default SSID's I can use? One fo the distributon points is still set up as the default network name (MSHOME) which tells me they probably haven't changed much of the defaults

I think its better if you just quit the internet altogether. Better for everyone.
