Previous workout I had a Front Squat PR of 225 x 3

I have a dilemma, should I try and go for another PR in Front Squat and *milk* the exercise until I stop progressing..... or

do another exercise like box squats or high bar squats (completely changing the exercise every week).

What are your opinions

I box squat every week but not for a 1rm. My 'other' squats are either rotated weekly or I change what I do completely (reps, rest, etc...).

That is just me though...I'm not really a bodybuilder or overly concerned with the front/back squat either.

I forget the name of the fella who came up with this, but the theory is tried and true.

You cannot lift at 90%+ for more than 3 weeks in a row on a specific lift without the cns being effected, leading to diminishing returns.

This means if you front squat for a personal PR, you cannot try this for more than 3 weeks without switching to something like good mornings or back squats or high bar squats.

Switch every 2 weeks as a guidline.

I don't neccessarily change the exercise but I do change the rep and set structure weekly.

Cheers,
Scotsman
