Need help with picking out a new Desktop?

I was looking for some advice. I am planning on buying a new computer. I will more than likely be buying it from best buy. I will be buying a new desktop. I dont need anything too drastic. This computer will be used primarily for downloading music and general internet use. I dont play any games online or anything like that. I just search the net do lots of ebay and facebook type of stuff. Of course tons of Elite Fitness. As far as money when ya recommend a particular model throw a price out there. The price can be a estimate. I dont care if it costs some cash but I dont wanna spend too too much. I havent bought a new computer in years. This one is a Dell 4600c. Also what would be the best anti virus software to get on it?
Thanks everyone
EB

Anything on the HP lower end of things should work fine for what you will be doing. I wouldn't spend more than $500-$700 for the whole package (monitor, desktop, keyboard, mouse)

This looks to have everything you would need
HP p6110y Desktop with Intel® Pentium® Processor & 20" LCD Monitor

As for anti-virus, there are a number of them out there and pretty much all on par with each other. Symantec, McAfee, AVG, all pretty much do the same thing. As long as you aren't arbitrarily clicking links from email or surfing random porn site via google searches its doubtful you'd get hijacked. 5-10 years ago people weren't as educated about the internet, spyware, hijacking, etc, so it would happen left and right. times have changed in that department, so I wouldn't sweat choosing an anti-virus too much

Gateway (now built by ACER) have some great buys with desktops and terrific system specs

Do you have a BJ's or Costco wholesale club?

You'll be better off if you never put any Norton's or McAfee crap on your computer. If it comes with it from the factory, uninstall at once and get AVG Free Antivirus, it protects just as well as the for-pay stuff and is much less system-intrusive.
