Need help with new DVD player

Yep, me again asking about electronics.

Using a new DVD player can't be this complicated.

I want to play rerecorded movies (copied off my laptop) and DIvx and the player says "cannot play movie" but then when I put in a store bought movie it plays.

I'm reading the instructions but I'm lost.
Shouldn't any dvd+ or - R work in there or any format of dIvx?
Should I not be able to just throw in a dvd and it plays?

Here is the model

K for any help

Thanks

Exactly....so not sure why it's not playing them.
I went through the entire menu and everything was in Auto.
I mean original movies play fine, but not the ones I copied onto a dvd-r and +r?

not necessarily. i got quit3 the racket going at home with all the burnt movies i got using netflix.

it really needs to be burned in a specific format(s). Divx is great for the computer. there are lots of DVD burning programs that take other file formats and convert it to something u can burn and easily play on your dvd player.

But all these dvd's worked perfect on my 8 yr old fossil dvd player.

My buddy burned these divx movies for me and we watched them on his dvd player. The copy he made for me is not working on mine.

There should be an option to 'Master' the CD, so it will play in any DVD. To burn a DVD it's not finalized until you burn with this option. That should allow you to use the movies from your PC onto any DVD player. :)

oh yeah and my Mom has a great brand new dvd player and all these same movies worked on hers.
I think I need to maybe program the dvd player or something?
Maybe the dvd player is just faultly?

Not faulty... Try using the default windows software, not the stuff that came with the player. I'm not on XP, so this might look diffrent but after I put a DVD in a get this prompt.

hmmmm, thanks (I think).....hahah!

Glad you came over to c&c ;-)

Weird, cause one movie I tried before was not working (said cannot read) and I just tried it again and it read it.
I suspect a faulty player.
Damn......

When you burn the movie.

I did the samething, burnt some movies and they worked in the player I burnt them on. But when I tried in the DVD player hooked to my TV, no workie. This happened a few times untill I found out you need to select that master setting when you insert the CD. Works everytime now...

I use Sonic to burn my dvd's. I will have to check that out the next time I burn a dvd

Ok so the dvd played a movie, then didn't play the same movie, then played the same movie. I think it's faulty.
I'm going to take it back .........ugh! The old days were so much easier

haha

Thanks

For $279 it better! Even the cheap $59 DVD players play recorded DVDs.

As long as they're in dvd format.

you're not supposed to shove the beta max cassettes into the dvd player

Man, I knew I was doing something wrong. I broke my cd playing by trying to shove my 8 tracks in there ;-)

I just returned the DVD player and will look for another one this week

Thanks all
