Well Intentioned But Incorrect Advice..
You have already gotten a lot of advice on this thread. While well-intentioned, most of it is simply not correct. One cannot fault the authors of these posts, for there is a thriving folklore in American popular culture on how to beat "lie detector" tests. Nonetheless, I suggest that some of the posters above also visit

Icy Hot under the armpits or on the bunghole.
Methods like this can get you an inconclusive result at best. King Kong wants to "pass." This rules out methods that affect all questions equally (this includes any type of ingested drug as well). To produce a passing chart, he needs to employ a method that creates a greater effect on the "control" questions.
fix a spot and always look at it, breath DEEP inhale and exhale SLOWLY
This is absolutely the worst advice anyone could give. If I was advising someone how to get accused by the polygrapher of using countermeasures (attempting to beat the test), this would be it! Polygraphers associate slow and/or deep breathing with attempts to beat the polygraph. In actuality, you want to breathe a little faster than normal (15-30 breaths/min) and avoid taking deep breaths.
Before you go, applied some baby powder to the palms of your hands.
This is also likely to raise the polygrapher's level of suspicion. Furthermore, it will provide no benefit. You do not need to conceal your reactions to the relevant questions in order to produce a chart with high passing scores. All you need to do is augment your reactions to the "control" questions. The AntiPolygraph.org site (which is completely free--it was founded by individuals wrongly accused by polygraphers) explains everything in detail.
Thumb tack in your shoe. Works every time!
Use of a tack in the shoe can be an effective countermeasure. Be warned that
(1) Polygraphers have developed an effective counter-countermeasure for this method--they can ask you to remove your shoes.
(2) There are other undetectable methods that produce the same physiological results. These include biting your tongue, sutracting by 7s from a large number like 859, and muscular contraction of the aforementioned "bung hole."
Whatever method you choose to employ, be sure that it is done during the control questions only. Note: Despite what the polygrapher would have you believe, "Is your name KingKong?" and "Is Paris in France?" are not control questions. Unbelievably, common control questions for law enforcement polygraphs include "Have you ever driven under the influence of alcohol?" and "Have you ever cheated in school/college?" The 'grapher will attempt to trick you into thinking that all questions on the "test" must be answered truthfully. In actuality, he assumes that you will lie when you answer certain questions about misdeeds everyone is guilty of.
Once again, the site above is a goldmine.
I hear telling the truth works.
Quite often it doesn't. Polygraph "tests" have never been shown to determine truth from deception with better than chance accuracy in a peer-reviewed scientific study conducted under field conditions. I second the advice of polygraph researcher Dr. David T. Lykken, author of
A Tremor in the Blood: Uses and Abuses of the Lie Detector. Dr. Lykken wrote in his book that he would certainly employ countermeasures if forced to submit to a polygraph--regardless of whether or not he was going to tell the truth. The coin-flip accuracy of these "tests" is not worth betting your future on...
Lastly…
DO A SEARCH ON "HOW TO STING A POLYGRAPH". ITS A BOOK WRITTEN BY SOME EX-FBI AGENT.
Doug Williams, the author of “How to Sting the Polygraph” was not an FBI agent. He was a detective with the Oklahoma City Police Department that did some contract work as a polygrapher for some federal agencies including the FBI and the Secret Service.
Once again, I mean no ill-will to any of the posters above. I realize that you were just trying to help him. Still, you may want to read the FAQ on the site.
