Need help/Motivation

Im going to post some pix of my current state with a little background info.... I used to swim at a very competitive level so i was almost constantly ripped up not very big but a clean 5'10 160lbs 9%BF...
Then i hit a very low point in my life Began drinking like there was no tommorrow and smoking like a chimeny. No Exercise No Healthy foods just pure shit... and my body took a beating... This went on for about two years... Well one year ago i drastically cut back on the booze.. (maybe 4 drinks a month at that point-- now 1-2 is alot) Then six months ago i quit smoking (never felt better) So here is where i stand at this point. Please be kind. The thing that gets me is that i Still weigh 160... but my body composition is completly different.

Yea, I know... I wish i had a pix from two months to go to show everyone how bad it really was...I already feel like im getting back to my old self

Ok Last one... I have a difficult time gaining mass... When i got fat it was 90% around my stomache\lower back So i know i have my work cut out for me... Thanks to all who can offer advice...
 
gotta start somewhere, Hit the weights on a regular basis for a WHILE, take some creatine, shitloads of protein, and everything else your diet needs. Don't consider roids until you have worked out naturally for a while. If you stay motivated, and educate yourself on roids, you can be 200+ before you know it. Good luck.
 
its great that you quit smoking and i hope you will be able to do the same with the booze... just do like Natymike said and im sure you will be fine, I can see that you have been a swimmer....

Thanks Natymike, I wasn't considering roids yet I have a long way to go before that... But i do enjoy reading everyones posts and so that if i ever do go that route i know what's up...
 
I think you've got a good basic build. Yeah, you're a little thin, but not beanpole skinny either. And I think you might be able to get bigger than you think if you keep at it.

A lot of guys who let themselves go heathwise like you did might look a hell of a lot worse. I know I would.

So head to the gym and start eating right. My guess is that you will see results quicker than most.

Sounds like you and I have a little in common. Out of high school I weighed about 140 pounds. Late in my last year and then for about a year, I trained hard and tried to eat right. Quit smoking too. Then I lost interest for about 5 or 6 years and went back to smoking alot and drinking even more. Also messed around with some other nasty drugs. Then, at 24 years old, I decided to get back in shape in drop all the bad habits. I was 145 at that point. Now I don't drink, don't smoke, and eat clean (tuna, chicken, etc.). I think other than diet, in order to get lean and big, you HAVE TO TRAIN WITH INTENSITY!!!! Don't just go through the motions. Train hard when you can. That sounds pretty basic but it worked for me. Form, diet, and all the other important aspects of bodybuilding are very important of course but train hard is my personal biggie. You can see my pics posted under "new to this board my pics" under rotorobot. Went from 145 to 210.

Damm!

Hit the wheights hard and heavy and eat a shit load with lots of protein supplemention for about 6 months then hit some test 400mg week and deca 400mg a week for 8weeks you will get There.:p
 
Thanks to all.... I just had my BF taken today. The doc said it is between 7-10% (he used 4 site measurements)... I persoanlly would have thought it was alot more than that..

slap the shit out of yourself.....go to the gym and workout until your mind knows not to ever complain again

hey it worked for me when i was a skinny little guy who wanted to be huge.......
