Need help bulking up, what foods?

Hello, this is my first post. :)

I'm 22 yrs old, 6'1" and weigh about 165lbs. I've been lifting seriousely for about a few months now. For a few years though I've always lifted occasionaly.. for a few weeks or months at a time. I'm a fairly strong guy. Very little fat.

I guess I have several questions here.

First, I used to take PhosphagenHP. 5 grams before and during the workout and then 5 grams afterward. It tasted great and gave me plenty of energy. However a good bodybuilding friend of mine suggested I try Biotest Surge with pure creatine. I tried that but couldn't stomach the taste. He's REALLY pushing me to suck it up and use it.. just dilute it less. Will it REALLY make that much of a difference?

I know about consuming lots of protien. I have optimum nutrition protien shake to fill in the gaps..

My second question is regarding the bulking diet. I recently picked up a foreman grill and it ROCKS!!! I never knew it could be so easy to cook. I come home and eat a chicken breast and then another a few hours after I work out. However I heard that chicken breast is more for toning and I should eat more read meats like steak.. which is what I will do..

But what else should I eat? What kind of snacks can I get?

I really want to eat the good foods that will help me bulk up without breaking the bank.

I'd be really happy to put another 10lbs of solid muscle.

Thanks.

nothing beats Steak and Potatoes when it comes to bulking my friend. Whole eggs, chicken too, but eat the dark meat too, legs, thighs, Milk, Ground beef, Natty Peanut butter.

Take in enough quality cals and good amounts of protein and carbs w/ the right kinds of fats. You can probally get away w/ eating a bit of junk because you said you are very lean.

Like mentioned before, i think steak and eggs are great for bulking along w/ pasta (whole wheat or semolina) or beans in sauce. Peanut butter is a great way to get in cals and good fats too.

If your not a big eater or pressed for time. You can stagger meals to one is a shake then next is solid food followed by the third being a shake and so on and so on.

I steer totally away from dairy (except for some cottage cheese when making pancakes) even when bulking only because i dont handle dairy well. But milk and such is also a great way to pack in cals from clean sources.

Awesome!

First I'd like to thank you guys for the replies.. I know how it can be when a newbie comes to the board asking for help. It can sometimes be tiring answering the same old questions over and over again.. but belieive you me I did many searches here. :)

I went and bought some steak today.. Looks like I'll try to consume 1 steak a day and perhaps 2 chicken breasts. A few cups of milk, and I'll try to throw in some pasta as well.. perhaps for lunch.

Looks like ~$10 for food a day.. about $300 a month.. I guess thats not too shabby.

Oh yea, george foreman grill.. LOVE IT!!! oh. I already talked about that in my first post.. cooked my steak in 6 minutes today.. can't beat that.

I just got done working out.. Now, unlike before, I'm always lifting to failure.. Really burning the muscles.. I try to do 3 sets of each muscle with 8-10 reps really PUSHING the last few out.. My facial expressions must be very disturbing.

Any other tips for easy to make foods? I can definately do PB&J.. I actually used to eat a couple of those sandwiches for lunch. :)

I don't have all the time in the world.. the foreman grill is a life saver.. the less time I spend preparing food the more time I have for lifting. :)

Thanks again guys.

if you buy the chicken breasts that have like 63g/ protein per breast(they're at grocery stores around here ayways), two of those a day would be like half your protein intake. i eat a lot of peanut butter. just dont eat it plain, choking on peanut butter is the worst thing in the world...it wont go down, especially if you dont have anything to drink.oh yeah, thats another thing, drink A LOT of water, most bulking people should drink a gallon or so, to help w/ general hydration and the absoprtion of protein, along w/ other various health benefits.

Sweet...

Since I got the foreman grill, I have NO problem maintaining body weight.. On a typicall week end, on a day I'll eat 3 chicken breasts, 1 cheese burger, 1 steak and 4 eggs. I'll drink either Milk or water.. I drink a LOT of water...

On a typical week night I'll have either a steak or a cheese burger, lift... and then a chicken breast afterward and an hour later another chicken breast.

I still need to figure out how to mix pasta into my diet.. I think I'll do that for lunch at work.. Perhaps some beef strogonoff (SP?)..

Also, I am noticing better results now that I'm consuming more protien.. Results can be one of the best motivators.. It kinda sucks working out for a while and not noticing anything different.

I'll try to take some pics soon.. I'm a fairly thin guy but when I do flex I am pretty cut. I'm always wishing I was bigger though. I see some of the pics from the younger guys on this board (I'm 22).. that are just massive.. thats simply amazing...

I'll keep up the hard work and hopefully I'll get somewhat close.
