Need an easy DVD Burner finally

Make sure the connection fits your lap top. Firewire if you have a Mac. USB for Windows. But there are exceptions. I've got a lap top with a firewire port and USB 1.1 but no USB 2.0.

USB 1.1 is slow as hell. I mention that because you may have an old lap top if you don't have a DVD burner on it.

I'd get one already in an external case unless you like to monkey with stuff. It will hopefully self install. Nice to have the install CD if it does not.

I use Sonic Record Now by Adaptec for burning stuff. It is very simple and very reliable. I like that.

i would rather tear into the laptop and put in an internal burner, you should be able to order one from your manufacturer

But for say copying a movie isnt it easier to have an external instead of an image copied to desk top?

There are few movies that you can copy. They have copy protection for one thing. Another problem is there is too much data for one DVD disc.

Computer geeks can get around this. Since the legalities are questionable, I don't mess with it.

Computers can make perfect copies and that makes it more dangerous. Plus computers are hacked into so very easily.

BTW...it is much faster to copy data to your hard drive then back to a DVD. So an external would slow things down. A surprise I know.

ok, i like external stuff. why? because it is nice to be able to take things with you without having to lug around a computer and everything else.

burning dvd's is easy. for movies, all you need is AnyDVD (removes the copyright protection from all commercial dvds) and CloneDVD (does an exact copy of your movie dvd).

as for burning data dvd's, fucking around with iso's, bin's, img's, etc, i would use ashampoo burning studio or alcohol 120%.

DO NOT USE NERO. it used to be the shit, now it is just a bloated, piece of crap program. their logic is since HD's got bigger, their burning program should get bigger, as well. they included all sorts of 'media' crap software and took a 50 meg program to damn near 600 megs.

nero sucks donkey dicks. people that use it are n00bs.

getting in trouble for what? backing up copies of the dvd's i purchased? the mpaa says it is illegal, but last i checked, i owned the damn things.

if i want to back them up to have copies for my own personal use, i should be allowed to do it, just ike i should be allowed to make trinkets and jewelry out of them if i so choose.

fucking mpaa. that is like the lock companies telling you it is illegal to make a copy of your house key. by their rationale, if you lose or damage your key, you better replace every damn lock in the house.

and yeah, those 3 programs are the best there is.
