Hello Ladies,

It has been a while since I posted, but I have been reading a lot. I have just started going back to the gym. I had breast augmentation in July. I went under the muscle, 425c.c, saline.. Well needless to say, my right breast has never completely dropped correctly. When I flex, there is a terrible mark where the implant has scar tissue around it. It is really hard to explain. I went back to the Dr the other day, to ask him what could be done about this... I want to go to 600cc, silicone, and I think I want to go over the mucsle. The Doctor said if I wanted to go under the muscle again that he could scrape away some of the scar tissue and a little more to compensate for the larger implants. That would be scraping away some of the pec muscle, or at least that is the way I understood him. What my concern/questions is I was a 34c naturally-- so i had breast tissue... I am just curious if any of you ladies that have over the muscle implants have had any problems, at all... because I cannot afford to have another surgery and there still be problems.... Please any experience will be very much appreciated.... I think that for working out purposes, over the muscle is better, right? I jsut need some input. Sometimes I think my doctor might have goofed in some way, but he would never admit it. I am going to get a second opinion... I live in the panhandle of florida, if anyone knows any good surgeons...
Thanks!!!!!

I had over the muscle and I have won powerlifting bench meets afterwards. I would definetly go over the muscle if you plan on working out hard. just my opionion :)

I have unders, and suprisingly on my first chest work out after the surgery (I waited about 10 weeks) I was stronger than before  .... I was expecting to lose strength and was also expecting it to kinda hurt but it didn't

I work in the OR as a nurse and I can say that either way is just fine...we have had this discussion in the OR several times.

BUT......HOLY COW SISTA 600cc is a big implant. I don't want to sound like a know it all male BUT I would seriously think about that one as they may not look that good on you, depending on your size of course.
If you ever have to get them removed ,and believe me not a few have to come out, you are going to have the National Geographic African tribe look if you know what I mean.

RG:)

Brick, are you serious? You could still bench just as much?

If someone could write me a guarantee that if I went over the muscle I wouldn't have bag lines and could still bench, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Geez...you too? Seems like more "over" people have this luck than "under" people. At least on board polls.

This is not what I want to read right now. I'm going to the doc. for my initial consult later this morning at 11. I actually need a lift plus implants. I'm going to another doctor on Feb. 10th. The first doctor was recommended to me by my GYN based on him seeing work done by this doctor recently. The second doctor removed leaking silicone implants from a friend of mine and just did unders on her friend a week ago. I'm looking at surgery early March. I had decided on unders but hearing stuff like this really scares me. :(

I was nervous enough before and couldn't sleep...forget about it now. Arghhhh!

I can't even think of any questions to ask the doctor. Hubby's going with me and I figured we'd just listen to what this doc. has to say since it's the initial consult. Is there anyting in particular that I should be questioning???

Have you talked to kronkette? She had some great advice that she posted here one time, in terms of what to look for in a doc, what to ask, what they should be asking YOU, etc...

I did alot of research and a couple of things I would ask Is if he/she overfills the implant. In my research I have learned overfills help prevent the implant from folding. Also what type/brand of implant, shape(round or contour), and the method of placement and incision. Find a doctor that performs this method on the majority of his patients.

Spatts, I don't lift near as much as you but I had no trouble getting back to where I was in either incline or flat bench. My doc does have one lady that he did surgery for that competes in PL
(he didn't give any names) but she went with "unders" and he said she has never had a problem.
The reason why I went with unders is "not to see the bag lines".

Good luck !

I don't remember seeing that thread in particular, but I did a lot of searching on the boards here and followed a lot of the links to other places. I'm gonna see if I can find the one from Kronkette like you're suggesting. Thanks!

I'm less nervous now than I was last night too. I'm not making any decisions today as this is just the initial consult. I can go back as much as I want before I make any decisions. I don't know why I was starting to freak last night. Sheesh.

I would definitely find out if the dr overfills or not. b/c i feel like that is part of my problem as well.... mine are 350 filled to 425... i will not do that again!!! My biggest concern right now is just getting them to look normal.... and to look the same size...

Realgains--- I am 5'10, 125lbs--- i feel like 600 will be just fine... having 425 right now looks small to me... i am not satisfied...I'm kinda going for the pornstar look....

I have unders and work out hard (not competitor hard), but hard nonetheless :D - no complaints here.

As for "there is a terrible mark where the implant has scar tissue around it", did the doctor say if this was "capsular contracture"? Our bodies will naturally produce some scar tissue to surround the implant because it's a foreign body. However, some people and/or some breasts will produce more than others. Sometimes the scar tissue will squeeze or distort the implant and be quite painful.

I remember from my research that overs are said to have a higher rate of contracture than unders. At any rate, it would be good to get a 2nd and possibly 3rd opinion before trying to correct this or getting new implants.

You might also want to post your question on one of the implant boards like http://www.implantinfo.com/.

Well I have overfilled and I have no problem so I guess that their are alot of factors in their that effect the implant. Mine are only overfilled by 30cc just enough to stop them from folding. When I say folding, This is not a good thing this is one of the main causes for implant ruptures, one part of the implant rub on another part of the implant causing the silicone bag to wear out faster resulting in rupture. Another factor would be how large your doctor made the pocket.

By the way how long has it been since your surgery? Like FitFossel said this sounds more like Capsular contracture than an overly filled implant. I believe Capsular contracture usually occurs after about a 6 month period. At least that is what I was told.

Mrs. Puddles-- a good book to read would be "The best Breast" http://www.implantinfo.com/inforesources/readinglist/index.html
I gathered alot of information from this book.

Good luck

It is not a contracture.. You can only really notice it when I flex, and then it is so ugly... The Dr said that the implant did not drop in time before the scar tissue developed. The reason I want to go over the muscle is because the ones I have right now look natural, and that was not what I wanted.

Question:

Anyone with over's--- Did you have a lot of natural breast tissue? I do, I was 34C... I am just curious what the tissue will do/look like with overs....

I do not think that the Dr should go in and cut some of my lower pec muscle... That is why I am questioning you ladies, for your expert advice...

Thank ya'll so MUCH!!!!

I have a friend with overs, She was a D cup. Hers look great, they also looks natural too. I think mimimal breast tissue will give you that round fake look. You need to let your doctor know what
you want.

I am sure they will look great on ya:p

Most of the cases I have assisted on have been in Hawaii and most of these ladies were tiny asian or asian mixed race ladies....you know...5'2" and 110 pounds. They were mostly "overs" as well.
Many of them got big implants and the people in the room usually thought they were too big. 600cc in these ladies is huge but in a women that is 5'10" .....they will still be huge he he he ..no seriously, they will look much better on someone your size.
I asked a well know plastic surgeon in Honolulu why he makes them so big and he said that if he doesn't most will come back wanting more saline put in!

Thanks for the book suggestion, Love...I'll pick up a copy.

Today's consultation went well! Right now I"m a 36D and we're looking at 425cc overfilled a bit, round, smooth, under the muscle. I brought a 36DDD bra with me that I was wearing a few months ago, tucked the implant inside and it fills the cup just perfectly. Hubby and I about fell down with price though...over $8k for the lift and implants and all the other stuff that goes along with the procedure. In the lift he'll be removing about 7cm of extra skin, minimizing the size and correcting the shape of the areola, and relocating the nipple up to an appropriate level...I am so excited about that! Unfortunately, the tummy tuck will have to wait. :( That's another $6k+ but it will be done eventually. He said I'd be best waiting at least 3 months after the breast augmentation, so, no bikini this summer. Oh well. Just more time to work on those abs I guess.

After my visit to the doc I went to the vitamin store for some protein bars. Hubby and I have become friends with the girls who work there and one of the girls knows the doctor I went to today. She will be using him to correct her capsular contracture which was initially performed by someone else (a cheaper doctor who usually does the Hooter's girls in the area). She also mentioned one of the girls at our gym who had work done by the doc I saw today, so next time I see her, I'll hit her up for her comments about him. She a tiny girl, about 5', 100 lbs, and she's gotta have at least 600cc's in her...not a natural look at all, but the work was well done. Apparently he's got a good reputation around here, so I'm feeling better about this. I'm still gonna go to my second referral in Feb. but hubby and I were very comfortable with this doctor. He's been doing implants for 20 yrs. and took his time explaining everything and answering the questions we came up with.

All of my life I had larger boobs. Since I started lifting they have gone down two cup sizes. DDD's are what I like and am used to. I simply miss them. I'm also not narrow waisted and if I just had a lift, I'd probably be a small C and on me, I wouldn't like that at all. Weird as it may seem, I feel very unballanced with smaller boobs. The last time I was this small I was in H.S. When I nursed my daughter for over a year I had double F's. Smaller boobs just aren't ME. I love the smaller look on other women but for myself, I prefer larger.

I remember reading somewhere that if you overfill the implants, it voids the warranty.

a) is this true?
b) does it even matter?

that's what I was thinking...does it even matter if the so-called-warranty is voided? it just struck me as a little strange!

Well, when i did my research I found in some instances this was true. I did also confront my doctor about this and he informed me that this used to be so. He said there are alot of factors that are taken in ie.. amount of cc's used to overfill. I believe depending on the manufactor they allow a certain degree of overfill.

As for the warantee:D Well I am guessing that I don't have to go in for tune ups :D JK !!! This is for instances that the implant would rupture. They would replace that implant for free.

i was the same way, i was a large c prior to having my son, a nice full d after, for many years, got back into working out, and they shrunk to a small c, i was terribly unhappy. i'm a large d/dd now, with my unders, no one ever knows they are fake, unless i tell them!

as far as the training goes, i bench heavier now than i did before my surgery!

I had breast reduction last March. Went from "I" to "DD" cup (Now, I'm more like DDD). Before surgery, the doc thought I would end up with a "C." But I'm quite happy with what I got. I would have been unhappy with smaller (below D) breasts b/c I'm just "used to" being big-breasted (I was a D cup as a skinny 15 year-old) and now, it balances out the rest of my chubby bod.

Just found out from a nurse friend of ours that works in the hospital where this doc. also works, that this doctor's office has a higher than average rate of infection! She's going to recommend another doctor for me to go to. It's so frustrating and scary when we hear things like this.

But it's good you found out sooner rather than later! Nurses are a great resource for information about doctors. Even if a nurse you know doesn't specifically know the doc in question, most likely they can find out from one of their many medical contacts.
