Need a passport to visit Canada?

Hi, I'm a US Permanent Resident and not a citizen of any country, and I don't have a passport. Is it possible to visit Canada without a passport?

you can travel there but you need to provide two forms of id, such as drivers license and birth certificate....
getting a passport makes things much easier if you are flying, if you have time to get one

If you're driving across, excpet immigration to give you hell if you jus have a license and a birth certificate.

If you're flying, airport immigration is usually a little more lenient.

I ran into problems recently crossing into Windsor. I had already checked into my hotel in Canada and crossed back into Detroit. The passport was in my hotel. All I had was my driver's license and social security card, voters registration, etc. They gave me hell but eventually let me cross.

Yes, you will need a passport or your "green card."

If not, then they may give you a hard time...but you might get lucky and pass with just a driver's license.
