Need a gift idea ASAP

SC4EVA

New member
So a close family member just closed on a new apartment/house (right on the beach in LA). Want to send a little something as congratulations but need ideas. I already thought of flowers etc but wanted to see if anyone had some original idea.

a basket filled with things like a bottle of wine and new potholders and kitchen linens.

Maybe outdoor things as well

man or woman?

To me, the best house warming gifts are something handy, that you've wanted. You've gotta know the person pretty well though. Pizza cutter, can opener, chainsaw, that sort of thing.

I am also a big fan of the gift basket...you can fill with things that fit that person. :rose:

The traditional houswarming gift.

Wine- so you'll always know happiness
Bread- so you'll never know hunger
Salt- so you'll always know flavor

That would be a BEAUTIFUL gift if it came packaged prettily and with a pretty card that said what each symbolized.

I love meaningful gifts like that.

Otherwise, homemade banana bread and preserves.

Again traditionally you deliver them yourself and hand them in the door to the people while telling them what each symbolizes before you enter.

Banana bread is good too though. :chomp:

Well if I'm anywhere nearby next time you move I'll pop over with a basket.

I brought my best friend and his wife this sort of thing except I substituted cheese for the salt as they already had plenty of salt from their old place.

Pier 1 has good house stuff, especially beach things, gift cert. is always nice.
Pier 1 is everywhere in CA.

Gift basket idea is always a sure win.

You could make it all beach themed: Barometer, fluffy white beach towels(never have enough beach towels on hand)Picnic basket for dining @ beach, beach pass for a year(most beaches charge now a days to park)Large blanket for sitting/laying on,sun tan lotion, beach shoes, travel BBQ.

The list is endless, not to mention all the places you could call for Maine Lobsters or clam bakes for a dinner on the beach some night.
