Nazis vs. the Japanese?

How come if you went to war for Germany during the World War you can still be tried today as a criminal but if you were a Japanese pilot dropping bombs on Pearl Harbor you can live freely?

I don't think your average run of the mill german soldier gets automatically placed on trial for being a war criminal. I could be wrong however.

the second was a military target, even if a declaration of war was late in being translated/held back

if you were a jap slaughtering mllions of chinese im sure you could be held accountable

nature boy, it depends which side of germany you found yourself. if on west germany you;d be alright. if in east germany you;d probably be put to work in the salt mines or something

i dont see any difference between dropping bombs on warships and taking women and children from their homes and slaughtering them because they were different.

hmm, this sounds like a joke. But in case its not a joke yes i do know the difference. anyone who joins the army to either be a soldier on the front lines or is a cook for the army assumes the risks. And yes it also applies to those forced to join the army via draft. those children who are a year old and laying in their cribs with pacifiers in their mouths are NOT soldiers.

ever hear of the Nanjing Massacre?

maybe? im not sure
its what i was referring to i think

(i can;t remeber the name but its the stuff japanese troops did pre-WW2, basically killing and raping innocents)

Last night NBC had a WW2 special on and they were saying how the Japenese civilians were so brain washed by their government that Americans were sick and evil that they'd kill their own families to spare them being tortured by the hands of Americans.

One guy recounted how he and his brother bashed their mothers head in with a brick and then killed their baby brother and sister.

They also showed mothers throwing newborn babies over cliffs so that they couldn't be "raped and murdered" by the Americans as they were told they would be.

Pretty sick stuff going on in Japan back then.

As far as I know the japs were forgiven for their war crimes, yet I open up the newspaper and read about a former Nazi soldier being tried for killing two jews over 50 years ago. This is bullshit!

I guess you mean with the taking women from homes as the killing of all the Jews, right? The legal difference is that one violates the points of the Geneva Convention and the other does not.
