Natty PB vs Regular

What is the main benefits of Natty PB ove rregular. I was comparing the 2 in the supermarket the other day and natty pb only has 1 less gram of sat fat. There is no breakdown on the unsaturated fats but is it a huge difference?
 
lots of sugar and sodium added to the regular peanut butter.. as well as less healthy fats and canola oil is added
 
one simple reason: hydrogination

hydroginated oils in regular pb although classified as "unsaturated" take the form of saturated fats because the hydrogination straightens the naturally bent unsaturated molecule.

I would basically avoid any hydroginated oils b/c they are no better for you than saturated fats

someone once told me that eating jiff was the equivalent of eating peanut flavored crisco
 
Jif has about 1-2 grams more sugar (not much), otherwise everything else is the same - EXCEPT I believe IronLion is right - it is the hydrogenated oils that are found in Jif and those namebrands. I still like the taste of Jif, etc better!
 
Flax seed

2 questions....anyone who is on a moderate carb/fat and high protein diet use flax seed? When? and still maintain bf% under 9%?


Also, anyone had pro-performance (GNC) meal replacements, choc. mint, cocunut, caramel......great deal, so I got some for mid-morning snack......just wondering.......
 
Anything that is hydrogenated will also cause your cholesterol to increase too. I'm not too sure if that is a consideration for anyone on here or not, but it is one more reason to avoid it. The way I understand it, you can eat thngs that contain cholesterol (in moderation) because your body will produce it to make up for what you don't eat. You do need to avoid hydrogenated and deep fried foods though.
 
Thanks for the replies. I was just wondering bc I know Natural is better for u but after looking at the breakdown of the 2 I only saw the 1 gram sat fat difference
 
Also note the list of ingredients in peanut butter such as "jiffy" is ten times longer than in natural peanut butter...and ideally you want as little of that extra added crap as possible. :)
 
Let us all not forget. Natty tastes a hell of alot better than regular (excluding the sugar factor).

If you live in Canada there is a store called Nutters (it's a chain store of natural foods), they have a machine there that they simply put peanuts into it and it grinds them into pbutter.

BEST P-BUTTER HANDS DOWN!! And really all you are eating is crushed peanuts.
 
I completely agree that natural peanut butter tastes better. The brand name stuff becomes a bit unbearable after eating the natural. It's similar to drinking skim milk for awhile, and then having whole milk which tastes like a milkshake. I heard almond butter is really good too (which I don't doubt) but I have no idea where one could get that. Any ideas?
 
Almond butter is not as good imo...I get it at health food stores like wild oats

they have a peanut crusher machine there too, my favorite thing is their peanut and carob chips mix. It comes out tasting like chocolate peanut butter.....mmmm

We do seem to srtruggle here in the U.K to find the healthier sugar free peanut butters, would a handfull of peanuts be just as good?

the less processed the food the healthier it is
 
Natural peanut butter all the way. Great tasting, costs the same, and definitely a healthy choice - those hydrogenated oils in regular peanut butter will be the death of you.
