My windows XP problem

Ok im at wits end here....Dell support can't help anymore

I have a new dell inspiron laptop that came pre-loaded with XP home edition, and ms works

i installed office 2000....now the programs won't work when i open them up, they flash for a second then dissappear

apparently there is a conflict between works and office 2000

so i unistalled office, uninstalled works, reinstalled office still not working

then i repeated everything and reinstalled works then office without word...


still not working

do i have to do a complete wipe out???

anyone???

I have Office XP I could send you. Is it all of your programs that aren't working or is it just the Office programs. You could also try reinstalling WinXP w/o wiping everything out.

its just the office programs, exlcuding word as that came within works...

I had the works/word bundle too that came with my system when it was 98SE. Office XP took care of the problem.

I had the same problem, if the office componants aren't the same version they will be unusable due to Microsoft's security coding. Uninstalling them won't do anything since there's still files in your registry. What you have to do is go to "Find File" and type in "office" then delete all those files too. The Pimp man is right Office XP would work I have a copy too, just be nice to the Pimp man if he sends it to you its like a $600 program........he,he

It's been a few months since I did tech support for them but you may wanna ask if they are still putting a utility called zztop on there. It's sort of like ghost and it will restore your computer to how you got it out of the box.
