My thoughts on dieticians

Dont like 'em... sorry for the length but this bitch got me boiling:

As a favor for my pops (whose a thoracic surgeon) I saw some RD slut that was ironically overweight. Upon meeting her I tried to play the 'dumb' looking weightlifter type just to see how much bullshit she'd try to feed me. Her initial points after hearing my 7 meals per day..

"You clearly are eating far too much protein per day and your kidneys will suffer. Do you know your wasting your money on all those powders? Believe it or not you can get 190g of protein with two 6oz pieces of chicken and two large glasses of milk, which is a great source of whey."

This is when I shot her with a few amps of intelligence... "Ma'am, clearly my regular diet will slightly differ from the average person because of the higher amount of protein, carbs, and nutrients my body requires due to high intensity workouts. Its hard to believe a few pieces of chicken daily would suffice, not to mention add up to 190g in the first place. I'm also assuming you just misinterpreted the fact that milk was a great source of whey... its composition is over 80% casein, which is slow-acting and thus not the best option for something postworkout."

Her response... "Your clearly smarter than most of the people that come in here but your just thinking too much about this. I mean why must you have dextrose after your workouts instead of just a nice big piece of fruit.... see what I'm saying? Sugar is sugar and best of all this a purely natural source. You know your trend is rather common with male eating disorders, which is rising drastically in this country."

Shocked at her last comment I waited a bit until she stopped her self-asserting laugh and concluded, "All sugars are not inherently equal. If I were to eat an apple after my workout I would surely be getting a nice energy fix, but to inform you, fructose fills liver, not muscle glycogen. So how would this be an equal subsititute to dextrose? And I'm not sure if your alluding to a suspicion of an eating disorder, but if thats the case then 90% of my friends and a majority of the acquaintances at my gym have this "disorder" of being healthy in a severely obese society, should I have them come in? When I bulk in 2 months will I still have a disorder? Ridiculous."

She actually took back her "disorder" comment and our session ended shortly after with none of my responses negated. Clearly pwn3d by catty.

what a dumb dietitican. I spoke to one that worked in a gym who was actually spot on with his reco's

Many people are like that.. its the training. My mom has a degree in nutrition, and she is great for the average person, nice balanced meals.. keep you healthy and fairly lean (but not below 10%BF).

Its hard to argue that nutritional req's change with each person. Activity levels, metabolism, lbm, etc, need to be accounted for.... I'm just sick and tired of these people that miss that grey area and look at their RDA for everyone they see.

To the average masses, bodybuilding is still a cult. Ignorance breeds stupidity, I've always said.

what gets me about dieticians: how come a lot of them are seriously out of shape? i just can't grasp how they can get away with that, and actually retain clients, tell them what they should be eating to be in shape.. and they themselves are horribly out of shape.

I wouldn't goto a trainer (hypothetically speaking of course), who was out of shape... so why a dietician?

Dude the exact same thing happened. My sister is in Pre-Med and thought my diet was unhealthy. Her friend is an RD too. So she had me write down two days of my meals and we went to see her friend. Her friend wasn't as quite as a bitch but she still told me what I was doing was wrong. I told her I must be doing something correct because I am not overweight. She said my BMI was in the red and that meant I was obese but I am not above 18% BF. Im mostly muscle. She told me that I should cut out some carbs and protein. I told her all carbs are not created equal and we went into the shit about GI... all in all it wasn't helpful. Nothing you can't find on here.

Sounds all too familiar bor. Another thing my "dietician" couldnt figure how was that I dropped to 10% bodyfat from 13% and only lost 2 pounds.

Good call. I had the almost the same conversation with my nutrition teacher. That was the easiest class of my life. Cept I had to memorize some incorrect info she was spewing out in order to do well on the tests....
