Y-lifter, that was the only possible explanation I could come up with about the Mercedes. I know it is a stretch but I cant think of any other reason why an automaker with cars at $40 minimum would still install cassette players.

Well, most well off people these days have gone the way of CD's
years ago..

My guess is that Mercedes knows that most people are gonna want super high end custom audio in their mercedes, and so they don't bother putting average CD stuff in there so it can be replaced..
