Never said he shouldnt see a doc, I thought that was implied when talking about getting meds for the bp, prescription thingie. Not trying to freak em out, and never said he was going to have a stroke just an increased risk, but it does significantly increase the risk of it as well left ventricular hypertrophy (increased heart attack risk), renal damage, etc... I know this to be a fact since I see the results of untreated hypertension everyday. They dont call the silent killer for nothing.
High bp causes changes to the arterial elasticity making it more likey to have a cerebral hemmorhage. well accepted medicine. Untreated hypertension, number one cause of strokes.
Just saying that patients I see in a cardiology clinic or the hospital I cover for chest pain, its either skeletomuscular or esophageal reflux, we then conduct a stress test to rule out heart disease, either a stress echo, or nuclear thallium stress test, or we take them to the cath lab (gold standard) if the symptoms sound right or if enzyme studies indicate or ekg changes are seen. Nexium is whats given for the esophageal reflux, quick post, but I thought thats how people would perceive it as what I meant.
