I received a call this morning informing me that my Army reserve unit just got activated and that I'm leaving for Germany next month. I have training in Kansas for two weeks starting Feb 3rd. I'm kinda depressed about the whole situation. I got deployed to Bosnia when I was active duty. I just finished going to school for 11 months (for the Army reserves) I just graduated in December, now this. I was looking for a job and really trying to get my life started. I feel bad for not wanting to go, because it's my job and no one made my ass sign up. But I thought once I got off of active duty I would never get deployed again. Guess I was wrong. Sorry for going on and on, just had to get it off my chest. i guess I have to make the most of it; but it's killing me to have to leave my two year old son. And only 10 days to prepare.

damn thats a really hard decision isnt it,all i can say is spend as much time as possible with the ones you love and maybe you wont be gone as long as first thought

good luck on your journey

My apologies... and, with that being the case... I hope you get to hurry home soon for your two year old!!! A dad leaving is one thing... a mom is another. :bawling:

Good luck Goddess.

hehe............ lol

you're young.. you're still looking for a job... you just got out of a school.. YOU GET TO SERVE YOUR COUNTRY!!!

and everyone back home.. including myself.. will admire and appreciate you and all you'll do..

but probably most importantly.. your son.. only two now.. will never remember the few months that his mother left him in the arms of loved ones.. but will always remember that his mother had the strength, courage, and honor to leave her son behind, while she fought for her country and all it stands for.

have fun. good luck. be safe.

It must be difficult, but since Desert Storm it seems like some Reserve units get deployed as much as active duty ones. Especially the Combat Service Support specialties. What kind of unit do you belong to?

You're doing a good thing. Sicne you are still looking for a job, you won't losea major source of income. You should be able to save a few bucks while you are gone, and when you come back, you'll pick right back up.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, because my wife is pregnant, my unit has not been active in quite a few months.

When I lived with a pregnant girl, all she wanted to do was have sex. This was especially weird, since it was not my child.

She had risky pregnancy type issues throughout much of the pregnancy and has had an outrageous amount of back pain since her 5th month. We tried back then and it was just too painful for her. It's horrible watching her trying to get in and out of bed. It takes a full 3 or 4 minutes for her to lie down and get settled.

Just another reason I am grateful to be a guy. Hope it works out fine.

The whole sex with the girl who was pregnant by another guy thing just seems kind of creepy to me. That's just me though.

It is creepy. I never slept with her....her nickname was "crazy Liz" because she was fuckin crazy. Her boyfriend (baby's father) was banned from the house because he was a total asshole, so he was scared to come over. Since crazy Liz had no car, and her bf lived with his parents, it was hard for them to get together.

Conaequently, crazy Liz's hormaonal imbalances were visited upon me and the other dude that lived there. One minute she wanted me to sleep with her, the next, she wanted mint chocolate chip ice cream.

The armed forces... you get to travel to see new places, visit new cultures, and meet foreign people.... and then you get to kill them... it's a wonderful thing.

Yeah should have know that I might get deployes with the reserves because when I was deployed to Bosnia on active duty there were a lot of reservist there. The thing about it is I'm in a Hospital, not a combat hospital just a plain ol hospital outta Topeka Ks. My MOS is 91A Biomedical Equipment Repair, so I'll be at Landstul repairing the med equipment in the hospital. I'm glad that I'll be getting some hands on experience in the field, but I was about to get on with GE MEdical Technologies. A friend of mine that graduated from the same school had talked to the Regional Manager and was about to get me a great job. Oh well I'll take this time to travel, and concentrate on me.

DOTT I hope your wife starts feeling better soon. I will pray for her. I was miserable when I was pregnant. This body was not made for carrying babies! YOU BETTER BE THE SWEETEST HUSBAND IN THE WORLD TO HER! And yes that is a threat..........or I'll come over there and give ya a butt stroke to the head with my M16!

You have a valuable skill. Hopefully your deployment will be rewarding in ways you can't understand right now, and when you get back you'll be all that much more marketable. Maybe you can still interview with GE and explain your

situation to them. Maybe they will be impressed by your dedication and hold a job for you.

When you get back, consider leaving the Reserves! You've served your country! Now serve yourself and your family.
