My Problem

Okay

I'm on the track team, and I'm looking to lose a few pounds, because I don't want excess fat weighing me down, I want all of my weight to be muscle. But since I'm on the track team, a CKD is out of the question. Can anyone help me?

All the research I have seen indicates that CDK and other low/no carb diets are no more effective than any other diets. They do not spare more muscle than other diets, and they will leave you will less endurance energy. I personally think it sucks to be on these types of diets. I really don’t understand their popularity. Unless you're already at a very low BF%, then I see no advantage to CDK type diets. By far the most important part of any diet is calories in vs. calories out. The micronutrient ratios are far less important. There is no rule that says you can't lose fat without cutting out carbs. Many people cut on high-carb low-fat diets. Cut your calories by about 500 cals/day below maintenance, and you'll start dropping fat at a safe and steady rate. Also, make sure you are including some relatively heavy (weight wise, not volume wise) resistance training to help preserve muscle tissue.

Good luck to you, I hope this helps!

what is your event in track?
do you always compete on the same day each week?

you MIGHT be able to do a CKD (which will take the fat off) and time it so that you have your glycogen stores filled by the time your competition rolls around each week.

I do the 800 mile and 2 mile (not in the same meet), I was just concerned that low glycogen would make me overtrain, because the workouts usually are much harder than light cardio

Have you considdered TKD as opposed to CKD?

I do alot of endurance and anaerobic excercise (very little weight training to be honest)
I'm switching from a CKD to a TKD and it seems to be beneficial.

believe it or not I run on CKD, only about 50 miles a week while on it. My endurance after my carb up is fucking insane! I can run 15 plus miles on monday no problem :)

anyway, i dont see why you couldnt modify a CKD diet to running, just eat carbs after you train and no other time.

Keto diets are better because they seem to supress hunger and spare protein..though you could lose weight on any diet..ckd is easier.

you can set up your maintenance calories at 12 to 13 times your bodyweight. this maybe alittle high, everyone is different, takes experimenting.

as for using a ckd, it is possible if you set 24 hour refeeds prior to your races. the only problem is if you have multiple races each week. do you have a schedule?

Bro i've switched from a keto diet to a more isocaloric diet (roughly 33% of each macronutrient)
My carbs come from low gi veggies and oatmeal and a post workout glucose whey shake only . Compared to keto (where i consumed the same amount of calories) i have more energy now and my body composition actually looks a bit better!
I dunno what you're eating now but rather than limit carbs have you tried figuring out if you're eating too much and of the wrong kind?
