My poor back

JC Grifter

New member
Hey bro's.. I recently got back my MRI results after my car accident in mid September.. I got four discs out of place in my back and neck, and pinched nerves. Anyone else go through this? What can I expect? Obviously my cycle is on hold. How soon can i get back into training? This is going to kill me to not work out :bawling:

Thats got to hurt. I ruptured 2 disk when I was 17 and fractured 2 vertebrea playing hockey. Your back takes a long time to heal because you are always using it. I would definetly rest up for now until you get those disk back in place and your pinched nerves go away. Your doctor will be able to advise you best on this one. Back injuries fucking suck - you can't do shit with them and the pain sucks. Good luck

i wonder if you could work certain muscles (extremeties like arms and legs) as long as you were using a machine that isolates the specific muscle (not having to put pressure on your back). I would think that "free" weights would be out, but maybe the machines with plates that you can use to work your biceps and triceps for instance or certain leg movements (obviously not squats, etc.)

G'luck with your recovery-

Mike

I have a disc out of place in my back and it has been that way for years. It still bothers me on now and then even though it has been almost 10 years since my injury. I can't even think about doing dead lifts anymore. I was feeling good this year and started back on them again after a couple of weeks my back acted up and I was fucked for a month. When I had my injury I worked through it but stayed away from the major shit like sqauts and what not. Just be cautious. Therapy always seems to be the best way to recover.

impacts like car accidents etc cause sprains/strains in the tondons/ligaments that hold the spine in place. If not allowed to heal due to the use of anti-inflamatories and ice then the problem can become chronic and additional bone mass can accumulate between the vertibrea (arthritis). Before getting to carried away or going under the knife please keep an open mind and do some reading at http://prolonews.com, find a prolo doc in your area and get some advice on actually getting the problem fixed at the source.

hey zygla... fancy meeting you here...

JC... i am getting prolotherapy right now for my degenerative disk disease. my second treatment is friday. i will let you know how it goes in a few weeks.

Stone, how is your back feeling now anyways? Its likely way to early to really tell if there has been improvement because as I have stated in the past it slowly improves over time. I go in myself tomorr for another treatment on my back and foot....hehe, you come out of the office looking like you got in a fight with a sewing machine and lost :)

you're not kidding man. i got stuck 25 times on my first visit! goddamn it hurt!

too early to tell with the back i think. you have to consider this is something i've been living with for 10 years, so i certainly don't expect it to be solved in 2 weeks! i'm hopefull though. after the injections it felt like some good things were going on down there.

Chiropractor....

You might consider chiropractic care to make sure your spine heals right. Some doctors just immobilize you to let healing happen, but the spine needs motion to work right. A good chiropractor will put you on a PT plan to help the back heal and strengthen as you recover. Do it right now, you can heal faster and better than if you just do whatever.

Chiropractic has its place and occassionally get adjusted myself however if you have to return to the doc to get getting aligned, then there is another underlying problem, and chiro can not solve it.
