I'm giving up pop...soda, for those that don't call it that. What ya' guys think? It hasn't been that hard so far, although I do work at a restauraunt and I get free pop when I work, but I think I can resist, once I get used to it, it should be easier.
 
do you weight a fucking ton? your on a fitness board and your thinking about giving up coke? how about go on a clean diet? eat healthy drink more water
 
Ok dude chill out, first of all I weigh 155 and am 8%bf...I don't consider myself fat, fat is an opinion. Also I just thought it would be a healthy decision for me, and I heard it is very bad for a person in the long run. And I already drink 5 liters of water a day. So chill out.

lol just a comment but you can't possibly be 8% if you drink soda.

Diet makes a difference. But unless you are either:

a. A freak of nature with your metabolism or
b. Been on a strict cut for a bit

you won't be 8%. And since chances are you arn't a freak of nature and you don't seem to have the knowledge of a 8% cutter, I doubt you are.
 
Ok, whatever....I have some pics, matbe that'll show you. I'm usually anywhere from 8-10%, but after workouts I'm usually never over 8%...

Yep. Most people have no concept of how lean 8% actually is.
 
you def were not a real 8% if you were drinking soda unless you have some of the BEST genetics i have ever heard of..and if that is the case. you should start bulking

Right. I've seen plenty of skinny guys test at 19 or 20% bodyfat.

but anyway.. yea soda is bad... very bad... if an overweight person stopped drinking soda... 10lbs of fat would fall off! no joke...

on average.. a soda has 40grams of suger....40 FUCkiN GrAMs!!!

3 sodas a day would make 120grams a day... add that too macros and its all fucked up

Yah, thanks....and some guy on here told me I have some good genetics say that I should devote myself to bodybuilding. And I'm 16, I drink alot of green tea, and such and I have a really high metabolism...

Nobody is saying your lieing, you just don't know what 8% is.

Something that I just read a minute ago, Mike Tyson was 9% in his prime.

Calling BS on this one. I lived below the 10% BF line all the way until I was 40 and usually drank 3 to 4 cokes (pop / soda) a day. Some people just have a high metabolism.
 
Yes, thank you! I have a high metabolism, and that's why it's easier for me...plus I drank diet. And ran average 12 miles a week.

Im not taking a side in this one either way, but just thought I'd point at that running doesn't have a ton to do with it, it's mainly diet. There are a TON of cross country runners who run way more than that a week who have very high body fat percentages....they may be thin, but still can have a lot of bodyfat.
 
I see, but I workout slot. and take protein accordingly...I dunno. I'll post some pics here real soon.
 
I dunno, but from the test that I take, I'm 7-9. And, a question, what is the best on to take with only using weight and measurements, and no I don't have one of those plyer tool things.
 
I personally know a guy who drinks at least a 12 pack of mountain dew every day..and is 6'3 135 pounds...almost no body fat..looks like an auschwitz prisoner...yay for thyroid issues.

I did one of those weight and measurement calculations at work at came back 7% bodyfat but with my calipers at home I showed 16% the week before with love handles. I've been under 4% and over 20%, and trust me if you were 8% you would have deep abs and a lot more vascularity. Right now I'm trying to slowly lean out to 10%, while improving strength before doing a slow clean bulk.
 
My bf scale reads me at about 4%.....I think I'm closer to 9% now and was at near death around 6%......it aint fun. The best physique in my mind is a solid foundation, good muscle bellies, and between 10-12% bf.

I would tend to agree. I felt good physically at 10%, didn't feel starved to death or weak, but was still lean enough that I felt cut. Hince the reason for trying to get back to 10%. I'll probably work on size whenever I hit 10% then cut a little at 12% back and forth long term.
 
Best of luck with your resolution :) There's a lot of crap in soda but I was one of those people it never really affected during my 1st cut. I seriously had 4-5 Diet Pepsi's a day when previously cutting down ... I got down to 11-12 before taking them out, coming from maybe 28%. For those that obviously care about bf%, 7 pt caliper pinch, pinch sites taken, then re-taken, sometimes 3 x then averaged.
 
Sweet, but can someone please show me a good method of finding BF%, without having the measurer thing.

IMO there isn't one. next to bod pod/hydrostatic weighing, capliers are the next best thing. and SURE they can be inaccurate.
 
water displacement is actually 2nd to the 9 or 12pt caliper. I've had them all including pt scan. I know more about bf % than I care ti admit. no. 1 everyone grossly underestimtes bf. arnold competed at 8% as a ref. I'm sittin around 6 or 7 have fish gill obliquesand veins in mu abs..mmtring to get to 10 % and might be there after this weekend. also anyone could drink a gallon of diet pop daiky and be diced. its zero cals plaain n simple. I give sugar alcohol up precontest but its purley cosmetic......enjoy it if u want.....i have a liitle each day but cut bck cause it blunts my hunger.

to the poster 12 % is generous....ill leave my opinion out. gl

final note....abs are soooooo overrated!
 
I think they're fine at the rating they stand at. Cause the ladies like 'em, so if you're not gay then I'd say they deserve alot of credit.
 
that comment showed your age. You are a buck 70 kid. we are all born with abs. I know a 6th grader who has a full six.

point is your skinny and have some heavy work ahead of you if you wanna build some size THEN GET TTHE ABS....

Ever seen a bum on the corner with a bottle of liquor a smoke and hit shirt off wrapped around his head? he's got abs much tighter than yours but works a lot less at it.....lol

not a flame but your young and a newbie......my best suggestion is to rread soak up all the info u can and be very careful with the words u chose.
 
i poured some coke on to the road out the front of my house and it stained it for 1 month.... if it does that to a tar road it cant be good for your insides
