Their site is flash so I can't link ya good past that. The Elise has been around in UK for years for around 45k US, but they are bringing it to the US starting this year in April for around 38k.

Do a search for the Lotus Elise, US model - maybe Motor Trend or some shit. It ain't that expensive, I am selling my 95 RX-7 and my CRASHED 95 RX-7 to buy this.

I hope yours doesn't come with those ugly-ass rims though.

I would dearly love to have an Elise, or a Caterham Seven, or even a Westfield Megabusa. Embarrassing Corvettes in a 4-cylinder car would be good sport.

celica GT-S engine?

why is it only pushing 120 horses?

i had a 2000 GT-S before i got my rex.....180 horsepower.

thing was nice and light....cornered very well.....but all the power was high revs

elise is a girls name. i can see a bunch of middle class and poor people buying these cars so they can say they drive a lotus. lotus is already a lower end exotica so this will only hurt them with the rich people.
 
problem with most I4s is the take off. it's all high rev horsepower and no torque. proper gearing can clear that problem up slightly though.

i prefer V engines myself. nothing beats tons of torque. i like to be thrown back in my seat at low rpms instead of making the engine scream to get power. this is the reason why i will never buy an I4 motorcycle again. yeah, my bike is quick as shit for a 600cc I4, but i gotta get it to 6K rpm before it starts to move good, and then over 8K rpm before i feel some real kick. i'd prefer to have that power at 2K rpm.

The engine for the US model is made by toyota but is is not the GT-S engine. It is just a Toyota engine.
 
0-60 in 5.1 is pretty respectable... plus they usually over estimate, so i bet you could hit it in 5.0

120? They're only using the regular Celica GT engine? That sucks.

Still, a 120 HP engine in a 1700 lb. car is still good for 0-60 in the high five-second range.

JH1 will be getting this car. But it won't be beating my Mustang. Sadly. He will look like a pimp rollin around in it though. I may even ride bitch when we go to lunch. When it shows up J. I'll bring the stand into work and we can finally get that grudge match going.

This arguement about 'fast cars' is no different than the morons on this board that argue about body types. You see some people on here just want mass at any expense, others want lean mean Men's Fitness cover model type bodies.

I am NOT into muscle cars or cars that are only good at accelerating. I like the ride, handling the feeling of a quick nimble, cornering like a mf'r of a car. Like my Rx-7, this car will give me that feeling. You know I would still buy a Rx-7 over this car anyday, but I can't because they stopped making them in 95. I don't want a 95 for the rest of my life.

BTW - If you want we can have a SUV challange too. I am pretty sure my Jeep would leave your Ford in the mud.

My current cars are Red, and I love the Red. But I have had them for 9 years, time for a change. Either that or the Silver they offer... but right now I want the yellow.
 
What is with all of the hate guys. There are people out there who have money, and some of them do have computers AND internet access, so they can post on EF. I've known guys with far more expensive cars... even if the car in question had as valuable as some assumed by the picture.
