My neck is still f'ed up after seeing the Chiropractor

I told him my neck was fucked up and he adjusted my back and legs. I asked aren't you going to adjust my neck?

He said some shit about it's possible to suffer a vetebral stroke from neck manupilations and it causes ligament trauma.

And he also said, pay the girl on your way out.

Methinks he made a punk out of me.

Methinks he should have done a neck manipulation.

I spoke to peeps at work that recently visited a chiropractor and they said their neck was adjusted.

It could be your rotator cuff. Does it shoot up the back of your neck to the base of your skull? Can't really look side to side?

I have much more range of motion turning my head to the right than turning to the left. It's not really excruciating pain ... more life a stiff neck that hasn't gone away in almost 3 weeks.

Stretch when it doesn't hurt so much, ice it, do more rotator exercises, especially before doing any upper body. It really helped me. Mine is from baseball and probably football.

That dickweed Chiropractor told me to apply heat (specifically moist heat) to my neck.

You can alternate the two. I just had to rest for a week or so, just doing cardio and stretching. Yoga has helped me with it quite a bit as well.

Okay, apparently some people have been injured by bad chiros or, more likely, wanna be chiros with no degree. Shitty chiros who don't know what they're doing are afraid of neck manipulation of any sort.

Find a new chiro. There's a way to adjust necks that isn't violent, they use the table or they use percussion devices. At the very least if you went in there complaining of neck pain he should have given you heat/cold, and/or electro-stim. A good chiro won't let you leave in pain, man.

He actually did give me therapy including electro stimulation and heat packs, but no neck adjustments.

Find a new doc. The spine is a whole structure, and it only operates properly if you are able to balance all parts of it. If he refuses to adjust your neck he's doing incomplete work, sometimes adjusting your neck is what makes the rest of your spine fall into line, you need to release the tension in the different areas to allow everything else to be balanced.

Shit, my guy will do my hands, feet, elbows, shoulder, ribcage ... basically, if it shifts, it can go out of whack. Skull, face and jaw adjustments are part of the regular treatment.

Worst comes to worst, go to a medical supply house, get a soft cervical collar, wear that during the day, take ibuprofen every so many hours. Been there, done that, trust me I empathize ... usually if you alleviate the inflammation and provide support things can straighten themselves out. This works especially well if you have any muscle relaxants lying around and can add those to the mix.

Something similar has happened to me with a chiro. I came in with my lower back so messed up (mild compression fracture) that she refused to touch it. I'd give the guy one more chance (as I'm certain he wanted a follow-up visit) and tell him 1) you want your neck adjusted today and 2) your expectation is modest relief within the next 8 hours. If (1) and (2) do not *both* happen, you will not be returning.
