My Girlfriend

Quick question for you guys -- my girlfriend is fit but she wants to tone up -- Can she workout and do the same things I(we) do day to day as men -- just lighter weight and more reps if she wants to tone? Or is there something better she can do?
 
I am not convinced that there is a ‘toning’ rep range that would be better for her, but she can diffidently do all the same lifts (although maybe with dumbbells).
 
Yea, she could do the same lifts as you. And she should lift fairly heavy but have a controller diet to lose some of her bodyfat while minimizing muscle loss to get that toned look so many seem to want.
 
Gotcha -- well I appreciate it -- ya well I guess she used to have a 6 pack and has always wanted toned arms -- but doesnt really have it right now -- shes still a small girl 5'4 115lbs -- so I am going to have her start working out with me and see how it goes....
 
make sure you have her doing only compound movements since she is a beginner and take it easy on her for a few weeks by giving her time to heal.Good Luck!!
 
Sounds like you really need to post up some naked pics of her so we will be able to give more accurate advice. :)

fyi- ab definition is a function of bodyfat, not high reps @ low weights. I would have her train w/you in the 6-8 rep range & inc. squats, deads, bench in her program & if your a good teacher- show her how to do oly lifts. the gals doing clean & jerks at my gym almost outnumber the guys doing them :)
