My first war thread

I hate adding to the mass of war threads lately, but people don't seem to realize how volatile this situation really is.

Here are just a few of my observations:

1. Biological weapons WILL be used, and these communicable micro organisms will spread to other parts of the Middle East, Africa, Southern Europe, and possibly to Madagascar, East Asia, Asia, and Eurasia. Who will be to blame? Saddam? The UN inspectors? Or, will the US be blamed for "cornering" Saddam?

2. Chemical weapons WILL be used, causing great suffering and environmental damage.

3. Nuclear weapons may be used. Possible targets of nuclear attack include Hawaii, California, Israel, Kuwait, and Suadi Arabia. Korea is posturing for diplomatic recognition, but any deal made to keep them out of it may be unmade.

4. Much like during Viet Nam, the United States is acting without strong diplomatic support as an agressor on foreign soil. Its strongest supporter, Israel, cannot openly engage Iraqi forces on foreign soil without damaging our diplomatic ties to other Arab nations who's governments, for economic reasons, cooperate with us and allow our millitary to operate in their air space, waters, and on their land.

5. Without strong diplomatic support, the United States runs the risk of being "sold out" by other nations who barter for better trade agreements and the like. The world simply isn't behind us on this one, giving diplomats and politicians more incentive to accept favorable contracts with our enemies.

To sum it all up, we are on our own. Our diplomatic policy really sucks right now. We have a lot to offer countries in Africa, Eurasia, and Asia, yet we don't seem to recognizing this advantage. The politicians in these countries would gladly send their people to fight this war for a beneficial trade agreement with the United States, but we seem to be determined to fight this war alone.

I really hope, for our sake, we aren't just losing ground here. Governments come and go; nations rise and fall. I hope we aren't out of the loop on this one.

After all, what's the payoff? Kuwait had oil to offer, by way of trade agreement, for our part in Desert Storm. Are we planning on replacing the Iraqi government? It won't stop terrorist attacks on our soil. If anything, it will fuel it.

Think about it. How many Iraqis will see their children die from starvation, burns, infectious disease, etc.? How many will watch, with their own eyes, their brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, and loved ones torn and mutilated by this war? How many will bury or burn the corpses of their own babies? Will the survivors blame Saddam or the UN, or will they blame the United States and ONLY the United States?

I don't know about you, but nothing sends me into a rage more than seeing someone I care about threatened. I act without thinking and without much care for myself or my safety. Its just instinctive for me to attack in situations such as these, and I'm not even a muslim fundamentalist. I'm a pretty level headed guy, actually.

This war is going to get messy.

Dude, you spoke many truths this war will start the end of world as we know it. Get right with your maker now if you haven't.

It seems that we must choose the lessor of two evils, here. I'd like to see us come out ahead, but there is much to lose and infinite ways to lose it.

I know dude. I mean think how are economy was screwed just after WTC. You know some of those iraqians are here already and they are going to either nuke or bio kill an entire city here in the US. Can you imagine what that would due to our country? Epecially if in New York? Are economy would be done. I wonder if they have all the stock records somewhere besides in New York if wallstreet got nuked?

The irony of this thread.

I am just a mere man and don't have any right to say wether iraq is in the wrong or not, BUT, I can say that our economy does not need this right now. This is going to cost more than it is worth I think. I might be wrong though... who knows.
