Is vinyl. It`s nice and white. No paint needed, no sanding , nothing. Now I want to put up a deck and am thinking of getting that in vinyl also. Does anyone have or know someone with a vinly deck?

They are more expensive than wood but less maintanence. What do you think of them?

PS If I get responses to THIS, I will be shocked at the diverse community we have here. lol

I like the look of the vinyl privacy fences, I am still waiting to see how the decking material holds up though. If you look into it there are several options to choose from.

1. The hollow vinyl, which lets you hide the screws/nails that you attach it with. You can also hide any electrical wiring that you run along your deck.

2. The solid decking material that is a composite of recycled plastic and real wood fibers. You cut it like real wood and nail/srew it the same as wood. It is supposed to weather like real wood after a while.

I still prefer the feel and look of real wood for a deck.

Why is that? Wood get very old and rots out, especially if you don`t retreat it every year or 2. It`s a lot of work and always turns that greyish color. so drab IMO.

I have the white vinyl privacy fence now and it looks great. looks brand new still after 2 years. While my neibors wooden fence is 3 different shades of grey and green and he`s painting it all the time.

How would that be different from a deck?
