He is the father of my little brother and sister but hasn't seen them since they were toddlers. They don't even remember him.

I ran across his obituary which was VERY SHORT. It basically just said that he died on July 17, this year. He was only 58. It didn't list any survivors or anything.

My little brother and sister don't know he is dead. We just lost our mother December '05.

Should I tell them or let sleeping dogs lie. My little brother has always expressed that he had no interest in ever knowing him, but my little sister has always been hurt by his absence and interested in me telling me more about him.

I can't think of one single nice thing to say about their father. He was the meanest and most terrible person I've ever known.

Of course they should know.

For closure if nothing else...

How old are they?
They are 26 and 25.

I will wait until after the baby is born to break the news. He hasn't talked to them in 20 years, so I guess it can wait a couple of months to tell them.

sounds like good news then the way u put it
I couldn't care less about the man. Honestly, he deserved to die.

It may hurt my sister a bit to know, though, because that was her only living parent even though she doesn't remember him. I don't talk crap about their dad in front of them, but he had a real screw loose. He was extraordinarily cruel. They are lucky they don't remember him.

ummmm, not to change the subject but aren't you supose to be having a baby? I'm sorry, but I'm really paranoid about going past my due date and it's my turn in December. Right now, you should be thinking about birth and not death.

I'm past due. ugh.

I wasn't really thinking about it. Just rambled onto his obit by a weird twist of fate.
