My Dog Died

Major bummer.

We had the dog and the cat spending 2 weeks in a kennel while we were on vacation. They told us the dog died suddenly of a twisted stomach.

RIP Chestnut, aka "Chester" an awesome 7 year old chocolate lab.

WTF! Why were they feeding him such a large amount of crappy dog food? Autopsy! Rip Chester!

I never heard of a twisted stomach before, but after a quick search on google, I found what it is. It's not that common, but it does happen. Plus, the vet had X-rays of Chester and knew what the cause was. Not much we could do after that.

Still managed to be one step ahead, not for long!

RIP Chester!

That is so sad!!!! If they find something in the autopsy sue them. don't let then get away with that. If that was me I would just die. I was going to board my pup, but now I'm not so sure. Anyone wanna watch a 14 week old puppy for 5 days?

that sucks man.

my dog died last year and it was a rough time. He started coughing up blood so my mom, my girl and myself rushed him to the animal hospital. He was gasping for air basically and spitting blood. When I carried him in the hospital cause he couldn't walk he released all his bowls on the floor.

When they brought him into the room they came back and said he died when they put him on the examing table. He had cancer all over him and it was in his lungs.

I just wish we would have found out sooner so we could have put him to sleep so he wouldn't have suffered the way he did. I was also upset that he passed away without anyone he knew around when he went.

I just figured i'd tell my sad story also. It sucks losing an dog cause you can imagine that if they were suffering they wouldn't know what was going on.

They fed him to much crappy food at once! Probably Cheep Crappy Bulk Dogfood! Or just to much good dog food! I guarantee they knew what was going on and let him suffer knowing that the odds of you suing them were better then taking him to a vet for surgery! And if they didnt they should not be running a kennal! Dying suddenly of a twisted stomach is fishy! Usually the dog suffers for a long time before death! I'm not trying to make light of your dogs death or make it seem like he suffered in great pain but thats what I think happened!

It was a major bummer and a bit of a shock. The vet had called to leave us a message, but in the two weeks we were gone, his message had been erased. I brought the 2 kids with me when we went to get the animals. Luckily they had enough sense to pull me into a room to let me know what happened. Utter shock. I had to tell the kids the dog was going to stay another day. After we got home I told my daughter (6 yo) what happened. She took it kinda hard, but my wife took it real hard.

I would have done the dog switch!

do you plan on getting another dog?

if you do, get a border collie.

Yep.

I'm a dog person. I miss having my dog around. She was always by me when I was at home. Even though I know I can't replace her, I want another one.

I thought about getting a Border Collie but like Labs too much.

I got lucky and found a new litter of labs that were just born. We'll be able to pickup a new Yellow Lab either this or next friday. Everybody is stoked about the new puppy.

Sorry for your loss.....Labs are the best dogs......we have three,a Lab/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, a Lab/Rottweiler mix, and a Lab/Pitbull mix.......they are the greatest dogs in the world.....because we have three it's always been to expensive to board them....so we pay someone to stay here at the house with them as we are usually gone one week out of the month.....that is the best solution if you have someone you can trust.....good luck with the new pup, and R.I.P. Chester

border collies arent those lassie looking dogs. they are black and white (red in some strains) that look like wolves and herd livestock. they are hands down the most intelligent and over-all athletic dogs.

my border collie is 8 years old, and it is still fast as shit, can catch frisbees like 6 feet off of the ground, and in overall outstanding shape.

I don't have one but the Lab/Pitbull mixes are friendly buggers!
