My connection speed is lacking

It used to be at good times my connection pulled 300 - 400 kb/second downloads but recently its been around 10 kb / sec max

I dont know whats causing it. I know its not the amount of traffic on the line. There's almost noone in town right now.

What could be causing this what are the options to check?>

Kill the 10 simultaneous porn downloads, that should help

I have only one download running, and its only going at a depressing 6 kb/s
its also not a porn

Try to defrag your computer, and download a good spyware program. Here's the one that I use. spybot

I use ad-aware... and update it a lot.

I do not use an antivirus at the moment though

where can I download a proper one for free?
