my cardio workout with DLs
today, i tried high rep DLs as a cardio workout.
so i started out with 5 mins of slow cycling, warmed up a bit then upped the intensity for another 5 mins. 30 seconds of rest/water and then hit the treadmill for some HIIT: 1 min of low intensity and 15 seconds of high intensity. did 7 such cycles.
a few seconds of rest/water while i got the bar ready. i did 5 sets of 20 with 135: strict form, as quick as possible, 15-20 seconds rest between sets, double overhand grip (light weight anyway). at the end of it i was sweating profusely and really winded.
then another 30 seconds of rest/water and i was back on the cycle: 5 mins of high intensity.
those DLs in between really kicked my ass but in a good way. power cleans would probably have been a better choice but there's a reason i stayed away: my gym is pretty small and on week days there are too many ppl. cleaning during the week (that too in a fatigued state) is not much fun in a small place. that's why i reserve sundays for PCs but as a strength exercise.
