muscle pulls and strains associated with anabolics....

Behemoth

Aberration
Platinum
I've been training hard for a little over 5 years. I've just started my first cycle this last month....and its in comparision a low dose cycle. I'm finishing up my third week.....and I'm falling apart.

I dont know the correct anatomical terms, however, I've got a pulled muscle in my left inner thigh, my right shoulder is so tight that hurts to put my belt on(not a joint pain...but a muscle burn), and my lower back is killing me.

Before anyone ask about proper form or the heavier weights....I've upped the intensity but form is the same and I've only gone up on the weights on chest so far....

CAN "AS" CONTRIBUTE TO MUSCLE PULLS AND STRAINS...IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO SPEED RECOVERY AND PREVENT FUTURE INJURIES.....

(i just took a viox and 600mg ibuprofen)

just like a loser....

bumping his own post.

I am not sure what AAS you are taking and that would be useful info however my guess is your getting strong quickly and while your muscles can handle the weight you are using your joints and tendons are not strong enough to compensate. This is fairly common with using AAS. HGH help with strengthing supporting joints but is a very expensive solution. Try dropping your weight a little and giving your body time to adjust. While I know you said you haven't increased your weight much but if your intensity is well up the situation can still occur. Also Deca may help this if you run it at a low level.

500mg test/200mg deca.....and I'll be starting winny around my 7th week.

I had minor injuries in the past....a strained wrist....a sore shoulder.....my knees always bothered me...but nothing like this.

Other stats, I'm 6'2 288lbs 32 yrs old. If that helps any.

any sports medicine gurus.....

this is a significant setback for me....would hate to stop training mid cycle......

one last bump....

before I decide to suffer in silence.....

my thigh is killing me....cant even lift my leg.

hey bro i feel you pain. I am about your size, 6'2'' 285 lbs. During a cycle I'm using so much damned weight that it is just rough on my body. When you have to use 375-425lbs on bench to work out, your shoulders take a beating. The low back might be a bloating issue perhaps? I know that on d-bol my back feels like total shit. As far as straining muscles, i've certainly had my problems while "on". But I've had more problems than ever the last month or so (2nd degree tricep tear, reinjured hamstring) and I have been off for about 2 months, so go figure...

my recommendation: ACTIVE RELEASE TREATMENT (A.R.T.)!!!! This has been the only thing to keep me functioning the last few months. go to www.t-mag.com and search "real miracle worker".

thanks bro

I think that I may be able still to do squats....if my back doesnt flare up. The strained muscle in my thigh only hurts when I pull my heel in toward my body. I've tried the squatting motion and there's no pain. My shoulders.....I guess I may not be stretching enough....the burn like crazy...however, I'm thankful its not a joint type pain.

well good luck. i'd reccomend getting some Active Release anyway. Left unchecked (again, especially in guys our size) this stuff just compounds and leads to more and more problems. For example... about a year ago I had a fairly significant pec strain while benching. I took about a 2 weeks off and then just worked through the pain. 2 weeks later... i dislocate that shoulder. not a coincidence.

im getting soemthing simalir ,tonite i was doing crunches and it felt like somebody was stabbing my inner right quad with a knife,no idea why ,it hurt to walk for a bit but i sat in the whirlpool for a bit then came home and iced it,i feel ok for now anyway, and form is proper here also

THIS WILL HELP

Active release is a good option , however it will never replace consistent stretching. Your inner thighs, adductor group is actually as big as any leg muscle group. The longest muscle in the body is in the adductor (inner thigh) in the adductor group. think you have the sartorious, gracilis, pectinus, adductor longus in that are. All responsible for rotation and many more movements of the thighs. So, lets put it in perspective. As meatheads, we train hard, hard ,hard on the perceived "big" muscles. quads and Hams. As they get stronger, the other muscles in proportion get weaker. there we have the weak link and prone to injury.

low Back. Stretch your piraformis, quadratus lumborum, and erector spinae, along with your hamstrings! really focus on the piriformis!! How often sdo you focus on the small movements that hit those muscles? I bet never . No flame, we all neglect those little one!

Your shoulder , if you put you arm behind your back and pull your shoulder back, do you feel a tightness in the front of the delt that goes down to the middle a bit? Is that the pain you feel when you opull on your belt?
again, heavy bench and shoulder work, stresses the supraspinatus, youre lookin for trouble unless you stregnthen that! Heavy benchers tend to protract the shoulders which will cause that delt pain.

If anyone doesnt know these muslces or stretches, let me know and 'll get ya some detailed info.
Sucks when youre growin...growin...and small thinsg set you back!! be smart and avoid that madness!!

send me those stretches.....

never have stretched....just a quick warm up before the workout. But I've got to do something....my wife laughs at me every morning as she helps me put on my belt because my delts are on fire. This is crazy.
