Muscle Density and Strength

Hey everyone!! Ive noticed that my densest muscles seem to be the strongest, maybe its just coincidence. Ive heard many theories on how to build dense muscle, slower contractions etc. Its seems to me though, that certain muscles like my biceps, chest, shoulders and especially traps have just gotten denser over the years of hard training. Pounding and pounding the shit out of them. Im curious to know everyone's experiences with muscle density and strength, and reasons why you believe it to be so. It makes sense to me that a dense muscle would be stronger then a softer one. I ask this because sometimes Ive wondered if a muscle can stay the same size and actually become denser and stronger. Without the mind muscle connection getting stronger. Its hard to seperate these things I know, but Im really curious to why Ive gotten so much stronger in my back and chest and havent really increased the measurements on them for a while. Bodyweight has also increased, and the increase on my arms was only about 1/2 inch last year. More water in the muscle also seems to help strength, so this is hard for me to understand fully. Ive gotten so many strength increases over the years without much change in size. Any feedback is much appreciated!!

I believe that dense muscle is a product of muscle maturity. As for size and strength. I dont think muscle density has anything to do with increased size. I have seen in myself a much harder leaner body over the years. What tends to happen with me is when my strength goes up it is often due to the surrounding stabilizer muscles getting stronger, when these get stronger it filters over to the primary target muscle over time. It used to and still does drive me nuts that my back can consistantly get stronger w/ bent overs for ex. Yet, I see little size gain in my back. The unfortunate part is this gets more frustrating as you get older. Peace

beast, you sure you didn't lose bodyfat and gain muscle over this time? That may be one possible explanation for why it has appeared that you haven't gained in size.

ThanX for the feedback brother!! Thats what I was trying to say exactly. If a muscle just gets denser then it wont increase in size, just get harder. Ive also heard a theory that a muscle gets very dense right before its about to grow. But I dont know how much truth is in that. I know what you mean though, Ive gotten stronger for years without big increases in size. ThanX again!!

It really didnt seem so. I analyzed the FUCK out of that idea! haha I may be delusional though, and I think I am to an extent. I really do believe my views to be correct though! haha I see myself one way and I am convinced its true. But the mind seems to play tricks on me when it comes to these things.
ThanX for the feedback!!
